Flier
Description: A black and white f lier that advertises a graduate leadership conference. Date: May 1 1, 2013 Course/Instructor: Eric Lybbert Program(s)/T ools: Adobe InDesign Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic f lier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact. Process: I started out with four sketches to visualize the different ways I could place the text/picture. I found that I liked the combination of two of my sketches the most. After much trial and error and critique, I was able to create the combination as I had drawn out. I liked the alignment of Graduate and subsequently wanted to align the rest of the text/ photo/logo based off the straight edge box.

Imaging
Description: A photo I took myself and then edited in photoshop. Date: May 25, 2013 Course/Instructor: Eric Lybbert Program(s)/T ools: My camera phone and Adobe Photoshop. Objectives: Learn basic photography skills. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it. Size and crop the image. Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels. Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image. Desaturate the selected portion of the image. Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image. Process: I started off with a picture that I recently took. Next, I changed the image size and cropped it to make it a 6x6. Then I desaturated everything except for the red labels. Finally, I colorized the middle panel to make it pop.

Montage
Description: An inspirational photo montage. Date: June 1, 2013 Course/Instructor: Eric Lybbert Program(s)/T ools: Google & Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks. Use filters and apply appropriate typography. Process: I put both images in a new 1 1x8.5 document in Photoshop. Then I moved the princess until I had her positioned where I wanted her. I used a layer mask on her photo and I blended until the glitter from the background barely showed through. I did not blend the crown so that it would stand out more as the focus. I changed the color of the circle gem in the earring so that I could use purple in my text. Last, I added the text using three different text boxes.

Use the basic tools of Illustrator. Process: I googled anvils and then took a picture into Illustrator and traced the picture with the pen tool. I repeated the same process for the f lowers and the calligraphy script.

Business Card
Description: A business card for a business. Date: June 14, 2013 Course/Instructor: Eric Lybbert Program(s)/T ools: Adobe Illustrator Objectives: Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign. Process: I started with the the business card and used the anvil from last weeks logos. I wanted to use a more fancy ampersand and made it larger than the rest of the text to give a bit of contrast. I am a fan of right alignment so I decided to use that for the front of the card. I then chose the make the back opposite of the front for more contrast. I debating using color but chose to keep the black and white for the effect that I wanted. For the letter head, I took the logo and information from the business card and separated them with a line to keep a simple layout.

Web Page

Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page. Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience. Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and content. Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and basic understanding of CSS. Identify hex colors for web design. Compress multiple files in a zipped folder to attach as one file. Process: I downloaded the CSS template to use as a base. Next I changed the fonts that I wanted. I then decided to keep the colors a light neutral gray color so the black and white would be the most prominent colors. Later I changed the border from rounded corners to sharp corners. (the picture is stretched unfortunately...I couldnt fit the whole site into the screenshot without causing issues).

Brochure
Description: A brochure for a company containing an original logo. Date: July 13, 2013 Course/Instructor: Eric Lybbert Program(s)/T ools: Google, Adobe Illustrator & Indesign Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images. Process: I already had the fox logo from a different project so I just adjusted it to work for this brochure. I used rulers to line everything up. I made text boxes to contain the paragraphs that I wrote. Then I found images on google that would go with my topics. I also out a water mark of the fox on the inside. Last, I got rid of the background of the D picture so that I could create a text wrap around it.
