# The time for being passive about your healthcare has passed. It has been proven that patients who actively take control of their healthcare options make better choices and tend to remain healthier. The first step in taking charge of your healthcare is organizing all of the information available to you, and its a lot. Think about it. You have insurance coverage manuals, insurance forms, doctors statements, prescription information and more. It was truly a process to dread. The more you dreaded it, the more you put it off, and the more you put it off, the more you got behind, and the more you got behind, the more you lose control The answer is to transition your paper records into digital files. Chapter 1

Pharmacoinformatics: Using Evernote to Take Control of Your Healthcare Records

We all have different healthcare needs. Some of us deal only with annual wellness visits and an occasional bout with something cured by antibiotics. Some of us are dealing with chronic diseases that need ongoing monitoring. Still others are facing life-threatening illnesses. Whatever your healthcare requirements, the need to stay proactive about your health decisions and treatment choices is paramount. Doing that is not as easy it might seem. Managing our healthcare involves a whole lot of paper work. It becomes overwhelming very quickly. Fortunately, there is a way to manage all of this. What is Pharmacoinformatics?
Pharmacoinformatics is the combination of technology and information directly applied to managing your healthcare. In recent years youve probably noticed a push by your physicians to keep all your information in an electronic format. This is actually an aspect of the Affordable Care Act, and its goal is to reduce the amount of paperwork we are asked to fill out, as well as to help the medical provider electronically track our latest insurance information, treatment from outside providers, and pharmaceutical needs. Its goal is to reduce mistakes, repetition and the costs associated with all of that paperwork. Pharmacoinformatics is a big word with powerful implications. That power can now belong to you through Evernote. A software application for organizing your life, career and personal goals, Evernote has tremendous potential for managing your personal healthcare. Its biggest asset is its ability to
