March 15, 2013 Rapala USA Attn: Donations 10395 Yellow Circle Drive Minnetonka, MN 55343 Dear Rapala, As an Illinois High School Bass Fishing Team sponsor my overarching goal has been to continually build the experiences we provide to our high school anglers every single year to maximize the opportunity to make this a truly rewarding experience for the student. The inherent capacity of fishing to foster meaningful connections to ones peers, to the community, to nurturing a lifelong activity and ultimately a greater appreciation for nature, the outdoors and life is something that I feel blessed to be able to share with young men and women in our school and something that you obviously understand. I am excited to share that I will be chaperoning a group of young anglers on a week-long trip to Red Lake, Ontario (Canada) during the summer of 2013 as a culminating experience for the students who have been on our team for the entirely of their high school career and expressed a lifelong commitment to the sport. As the trip is costly the students have worked exceptionally hard to meet a great deal of their fundraising goals and offset the cost of their trip. The letter is aimed at exploring if Rapala would be interested, willing or gracious enough to donate any lures that the students may use on this trip to further bring down the cost of this opportunity to the students. As an avid outdoorsman who looks forward to his yearly adventure to Canada I plan on doing seminars for my students on presentations for pike, walleye and smallmouth; species that suburban Chicago does not have the good fortune to encounter on a regular basis. As you know very few pieces of tackle may attract all three like a tried and true Rapala perch crankbait. I cannot wait to the moment that I can demonstrate the collection of lures that have been gripped by some of the largest pike and walleye I have brought in my boat and see the look on the kids faces when they see how something as simple as a crankbait can, and will, be a large part of their success on Northern waters. More importantly I look forward to continuing the tradition with these young anglers of having a tackle box filled with Rapala products to bring more fish into their boats for time to come.
