Folkestads Prepare for Uganda

Special Points of Interest-2013 June 4th,Tuesday Mission Update Night at ECF Church Office, 7:00pm June 18th-24th Soccer Missions Team to Haiti July 14th-20th High School Mexico Mission Trip September 2013 Folkestads move to Uganda
By Mike Dennis

Uganda, Africa Over the years Edgewater has been connected with Pastor Daniel Kaggwa of Sign of the Dove Church in Kampala, Uganda. ECF has made several trips to Kampala in hopes to better equip the local Ugandan believers through the spreading of the Gospel. The Lord has opened doors for ECF Missions to work with orphans, womens ministry and pastor conferences. The short term mission teams have proved to be very effective, but the Holy Spirit is leading ECF to try something new that is long term! After visiting the region, Jason and Michelle Folkestad have felt called to make a more permanent presence on the mission field. Jason has been involved in mission work since 2007 with ECF. They have three children, Faith 10, Maci 7 and Noah 5. The Folkestads, who are currently living in Grants Pass and serving at ECF, will embed themselves into Kampala, Uganda in September of 2013. While in Uganda the Folkestads will be partnering with existing ministry projects. Jasons vision is to work with the men in the church body, equipping them through Gods Word and biblical studies - just as Jesus did with Peter and Andrew Matthew 4:18. Michelle has a heart for the women and their role as wives and mothers- Titus 2: 4-5. As the Folkestads are preparing for their departure, please pray that the Lord will equip them mightily. The harvest is plenty but the workers are few... Matthew 9:37-38. If you would like to support the Folkestad family financially, you can give a donation through Edgewater Christian Fellowship with a memo of Folkestad Uganda. For more information on the Folkestads and Uganda, please contact Mike Dennis at 541-660-1039.

Soccer Missions Team Going To Haiti

In June ECF Missions will be sending a team of soccer players to Leogane, Haiti. The community of Leogane is still recovering from the effects of the 2010 earthquake. The goal for this soccer mission team is to be used as a tool of encouragement to the youth of Leogane. The team will be putting on soccer clinics, playing games against the local youth teams and using soccer to share The Gospel with others. The team will also visit The Sisters of Charity Clinic of terminally ill children. Please be praying for a safe trip, strong health, and the witness of Christ to shine. If you are interested in helping out this mission trip, please contact the ECF office.

The Shepherd's House- A New Womens Ministry

Our ECF missionaries have traveled the world caring for the lost and oppressed, bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to our supported international countries. ECF has sought to serve the needs in our community with organizations such as Matthews Crew for the men, The Warming Center for the homeless and Shepherds Heart for the homeless teens. Last summer we noticed we had overlooked a group, the women of our community. The Lord began to stir peoples hearts to care for these young women, single moms, and widows. ECF has a growing number of calls from the local high schools regarding 18 year old ladies who are about to graduate, yet having no family to care for them or guide them into adulthood. The Lord has given us a vision to take these ladies and lead them into a productive meaningful adulthood by providing a safe home. These ladies are receiving practical life skills taught by older women and couples within the Body of Christ. Knowing that apart from the Lord we can do nothing of lasting significance, we are teaching the Word of God and taking By Rikki Fletcher an active role in discipleship with these young women by doing life together. Our ultimate goal is to lead these young women by guiding them to fulfill the calling that God has on their lives. The Lord continues to open doors for this womens ministry by providing the Folkestads home to be used by these young women while they are on the mission field in Uganda. The Shepherds House has been prepared over the last months in several ways. The House Mom has moved in, a vegetable garden has been planted, and a chicken coop was built by Matthews Crew. These young women have many needs and our four-bedroom home will not meet them all. Please join us in prayer that the Lord will bring us the young women we can serve in The Shepherds House. If you are led to be involved in supporting The Shepherds House in any way, please contact Heidi Caldwell at 541-761-1940.
