UNICEF urgently requires close to US$ 116.5m to undertake the following priority interventions over the next three months:
Syria (Total US$ 50m)
Health / Nutrition: $US 12 million to prepare for an extensive Child Health Days (CHD) Campaign to provide life-saving vaccinations, health education, and provision of ORS and nutrition items for children. WASH: $US 15 million to continue delivering clean drinking water to 10 million people, and to carry out emergency repairs and replacement of equipment during the hot summer months. Education: $US 15 million to purchase text books, school kits, and establish temporary learning spaces and distance-learning programmes, as well as summer remedial classes, and to ensure children return to learning at the beginning of the new school year in September. Child protection: $US 8 million to establish more child friendly spaces and to roll out a nationwide Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) campaign for children in schools.
