A response to the Church of Ireland. In the June 4th edition of the Irish Times, Rev.

Cannon Stephen Neill of the Church of Ireland wrote an Opinion Editorial article in support of abortion, And so I must declare myself pro-choice. I feel I must trust women with the integrity of their own bodies. The alternative is to take from women that most fundamental right of determining their own role in creation. That is fundamental to their humanity and to mine.- Rev. Stephen Neill Christians are often shocked to see men of the cloth publicly promote abortion, but Rev. Neills advocacy for abortion follows in the tradition of thousands of liberal pastors before him that worked tirelessly to overturn state laws banning abortion in the United States and whose efforts helped usher in the greatest human rights tragedy in recorded history. Most Americans are unaware that liberal pastors and rabbis formed clergy consultation services to promote abortion and assist women in obtaining illegal abortions in the late 1960s. These liberal pastors also filed their own lawsuit to legalize abortion which was never decided by the Supreme Court as it was made moot by the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States. Today abortion is the #1 cause of death in the United States double that of cancer and heart disease. The liberal clergy could not have predicted that 40 years after over-turning legal protections for the unborn more innocent Americans would die at the hands of licensed physicians than in all U.S. wars combined.

This changes the landscape for liberal pastors attempting to rationalize abortion for their community post Roe v. Wade. At the height of the sexual revolution liberal pastors could extol all of the virtues of abortion because the American public had not yet paid the price for its sins. In the early years there were still enough stable homes to cover up the cancer that the sexual revolution had spread into nearly every Protestant denomination. I would not have been and am still not in favour of abortion on demand, abortion as a late contraceptive or abortion as a means of terminating Down syndrome or other special needs pregnancies. I say this as the parent of a child with special needs who has brought untold joy to my life. - Rev. Stephen Neill At the onset of WW II the Germans did not immediately eradicate the Jews. Initially they just wanted to segregate them into ghettos after taking their belongings, but history tells us that it didnt end with forceful relocation to the slums. That was just the first step in a slippery slope that led to the death of millions. And history tells us that despite Rev. Neills discomfort with the idea of abortion on demand and abortion as a late contraceptive thats exactly what we have in the United States and every other country that has embraced the tyranny of abortion. According to the abortion industrys own statistics, 46% of all abortions in the United States occur as a form of birth control. Despite the abortion industrys claim that education is the key 50% of their abortions are repeat customers. Furthermore, abortion is legal in all 50 states and there is not a single state where abortions are not performed on demand. Rev. Neill will be horrified to learn that the majority of special needs children are aborted in the United States. Tragically, 90% of Down syndrome babies are dismembered by licensed physicians, silencing the joy that Rev. Neill writes about in his Op-Ed article. Source: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/09/us/09down.html?_r=0 So if the facts conflict with the views of Rev. Neill why would he support abortion? Every pastor must make a choice whether to serve his church or serve God. And often the decision to serve God means offending members of the flock who want the pastor to redefine wrong as right. The beneficiaries of abortion (men and women) fill the pews and the victims are nameless babies the pastor may never meet during this lifetime. So what would Jesus do?

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 18:10 -Steve Steven Lopez Spiritus Films Cell: 832.882.3825 www.spiritusfilms.com
