STAFF MEETINGS (For Patient Care Services Units) PURPOSE: To communicate pertinent information to nursing personnel. POLICY: 1. Staff Meetings and Minutes Monthly staff meetings are expected. The unit Supervisor shall keep minutes of the staff meetings, along with attendance records, on the nursing unit. 2. Scheduling Staff Meetings All unit staff members are encouraged to attend staff meetings. Periodically, a staff meeting shall be mandatory with monetary compensation provided for employees required to attend during off-duty time. The supervisor or designee shall be responsible for posting a notice one (1) week in advance of the scheduled staff meeting. Urgent staff meetings may be initiated at the Supervisor's discretion. 3. Personnel Not In Attendance A copy of the minutes shall be made available for those personnel not in attendance to read and sign, within one week after the staff meeting has been conducted, if applicable. A copy of the staff meeting shall be available upon request. 4. Staff Meeting Agenda Criteria Staff meeting agendas must include: Performance Improvement, Infection Control, AVATAR Patient Satisfaction and Job Safety Analysis. Staff meetings may also include: policy changes, unit problems, staff in-services and other information as appropriate. 5. Staff Meeting Retention Records Staff meeting records must be kept for a period of two years.
