NIOEC-SP-50-10(0)

0. INTRODUCTION To satisfy the requirements of this NIOEC Specification, Iranian Petroleum Standard IPSM-PI-150/1 with the modifications as specified herein after shall be strictly followed. Articles 0 through 5 of this document replace entirely the related articles in the referenced IPS Standard. 1. SCOPE This NIOEC Specification covers minimum requirements for the procurement of steel flanges in sizes through 60 and also orifice flanges. The flanges shall be manufactured according to the following standards: a) Flanges to 24 as per ASME/ANSI B 16.5. b) Flanges 26 to 60 as per ASME B16.47, series A. c) Orifice flanges as per ASME B16.36. d) Copper-Nickel Alloy flanges and stud ends as per EEMUA publication No. 145. e) Metallic Gaskets for Pipe Flanges as per ASME B16.20a. f) Non Metallic Gaskets for Pipe Flanges as per ASME B16.21. Cast iron and bronze flanges are not covered by this Specification. For flanges in diameters and series greater than limits set by standards ASME B16.5 and ASME B16.47, series A, the Supplier shall submit dimensioned document and calculation notes to the Employer for approval. This Specification isolates the flange material requirements from NIOEC-SP-50-04 hence reducing the need for that Specification to be issued with a flange enquiry or order. 2. REFERENCES Throughout this Specification the following dated and undated standards/ codes are referred to. These referenced documents shall, to the extent specified herein, form a part of this Specification. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any supplements and amendments) applies. For dated references, the edition cited applies. The applicability of changes in dated references that occur after the cited date shall mutually be agreed upon by NIOEC and the Vendor/Contractor. NIOEC-SP (NIOEC SPECIFICATIONS) NIOEC-SP-00-10 NIOEC-SP-50-04 NIOEC-SP-50-27 3. UNITS International system of units (SI) shall be used in accordance with NIOEC-SP-00-10, unless otherwise specified. 4. DEFINITIONS AND TERMINOLOGY 4.1 Contractor: Contractor is the party which carries out all as part of procurements for the project. 4.2 Employer: Means National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company (NIOEC). 4.3 Engineer: The Engineer is a person or a body appointed in writing by the Employer. 4.4 Inspector: The inspector is a person/persons or a body appointed in writing by the Engineer for the inspection and testing. 4.5 Purchaser: means National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company in cases where this specification is part of direct order by NIOEC and Contractor where this specification is part of contract documents. 4.6 Supplier: Party which manufactures or supplies materials. 4.7 Flange Edge The reference plane, coincident with the front of a flange, from which the height of any type of flange facing and also the minimum flange thickness is measured. 4.8 Flange Thickness The distance from the flange edge to the back face of a flange or, if the bolt holes are spot-faced, from the flange edge to the spot-facing. 4.9 Flange Facing The profile of the connecting end of a flange. It is beyond the flange edge, except for a flange of 3/4 (class 150) or 2 (class 300) having a 1.6 mm high raised facing, in which case the raised facing is formed by cutting into the minimum flange thickness. 4.10 Contact Surface That part of a flange facing upon which the gasket is actually compressed. In the case of flanges of 3/4 (class 150) and 2 (class 300) having 1.6 mm high raised facing, and in all nominal pressures (classes) having female and groove facings, the contact surface is coincident with the flange edge as defined above. "Contact Surface" is not applicable to ring-joint facing. "NIOEC Specification for Units" "NIOEC Specification for Piping Material" "NIOEC Specification for Identification of Piping Material
