HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself..!! NOW HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE.. Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

Let's say it's 6.15pm and you're going home (alone of course), ...after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles (8kms) from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know

Graffiti art, and underground street culture in general, has long been seen as provocative and uncompromising. It has close connections to gang culture; originally vandalizing objects and places to mark their territory. Today, graffiti art is now a respected and new art form, a rich medium with no restrictions and plenty of freedom to work with. Graffiti is a subjective art form. Some regard it as a new and rising art form, and others regard it as plain vandalism. In most countries it is regarded illegal. Thus graffiti art is sometimes referred to as underground art. Artists are forced to create their works in the dark, hiding from the police, officials and the common city dwellers. Graffiti artists prefer to keep their identities anonymous, preferring to stay hidden and unattached from their works, whilst marveling at their graffiti art from afar. While they do sign their names on their works, they hide it in plain view, including it in their spray paint masterpieces and thus protecting their identities in this outsider art form.

cavemen scrawled and painted images on the cave walls. Romans wrote on the walls of the buildings of their conquered cities. Ancient cities such as Pompeii has revealed graffiti, election slogans, and even obscene drawings. Graffiti was a popular propaganda medium during the World War II, both from the Nazis and anti-Nazi groups. Graffiti arts modern history came from low origins. World War II seems to be the starting point of graffiti art. Kilroy was here became a popular American expression, along with a drawing of Kilroy peeking over a wall. What, No?. was another popular graffiti subject during the 40s, referring to the lack of commodities during the war.

Art on the Streets

Not long after, the art form improved, and graffiti was no longer restricted to gangs. Graffiti has become almost beautiful (albeit still largely illegal). It was the medium for young artists to express themselves without restriction. One early artist called himself Cornbread, who resided in Philadelphia. He is considered the father of modern graffiti, who started in 1967. He has written his name on an elephant at a Philadelphia zoo, and even on the side of the Jackson 5s jet.

Graffiti s Origins and History

The word graffiti actually came from the Italian word graffio, which means scratch. It is interesting to know that graffiti has been around since the dawn of human civilization, when the prehistoric man learned how to make colored powder and created images. Ancient

Another was Cool Disco Dan, who resided in the Washington DC area. His trademark is a unique rendering of his name, seen around the Washington DC metropolis, especially along the route of Washington Metro Red Line. And of course, we cannot write an article on graffiti art without mentioning Banksy. Banksy is a graffiti artist, painter and film director. His style is satirical with a bit of dark humor, with his trademark stenciling technique. His graffiti works often have social and political themes, usually on anti-war, anti-capitalism. Little is known of Banksy. No one knows his real name, his friends, what he does for a living, etc. But almost everyone in the art world is familiar with his style. Aside from addressing political and social issues in his pieces, his work often has a certain wit to it, a keen sense of humor that will make you laugh or at least smirk. Even celebrities and renowned artists have praised his works. Banksy seems to be quite a traveler, for his works have been seen around the world: aside from his homeland England, he is busy creating graffiti pieces in Australia, USA, France, Spain, Greece and even Palestine.

Basquiat and Warhol often collaborated, especially during the years 1984 to 1985. However this was not very well received in the art world. The two held a huge influence in each others works. But unlike Basquiat, Warhol never took drugs, and he was appalled and fascinated by Basquiats excessive uses. Their friendship continued until the death of the latter, in 1987. The death of his friend greatly affected Basquiat, and soon afterwards his depression and drug addiction began to spiral. Sadly for Basquiats story, there was no happy ending. He spiraled down to depression and drug abuse, which later became the cause of his death.

Graffiti in Art Exhibits

the art world and the general public is more open toward graffiti art. The public has become more tolerant and appreciative of this underground art. In Los Angeles, for example: The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) organized an exhibit celebrating urban graffiti on walls, subways and buses; and it proved to be a hugely successful show. The Art in the Streets Exhibit featured prominent street artists like Taki 183, Banksy, Keith Haring, Henry Chalfant, etc. This is actually the first major US museum exhibit on graffiti and street art. The exhibition traces

Banksy has gained a huge following around the world, but also garnered a few enemies and critics. Some reject his works, saying it is just, essentially, vandalism. Whether youre a fan or a foe, there is no doubt that Banksy is among the most influential artists in the modern art world

the development of graffiti art from the 70s to the international movement its become today. It featured installations, paintings, sculptures and mixed media that helped shape the evolution of graffiti art. Graffiti art is widely recognized around the world. There have been exhibits and galleries worldwide dedicated to the celebration of graffiti art. Another prestigious exhibition is Born in the Streets, at the Fondation Center in Paris, France. But outside, graffiti is still illegal and could land you a ticket to jail. While admirers applauded graffiti, the police are calling it an increasing problem. The LA Police said that a wave of graffiti in the city has been encouraged by Art in the Streets. Up until this day, the four decade debate on whether graffiti art is legal or not is still a hot topic between artists and legal groups. Whether you like graffiti art or not, we know that graffiti art is here to stay. Maybe in later years, the rise of this new art form will bring about new laws legalizing them. Some people may be for it, while some adamantly against it. Whatever will happen, we are sure that graffitis here to stay; for the boundaries of art are constantly changing. We can only wonder where graffitis place will be in the next ten years.

A Move to the High End Galleries

Jean-Michel Basquiat was among the few graffiti artists who made the jump from the streets to the galleries. Basquiat began his career as a graffiti artist in New York City, before jumping into fine art. He is considered to be one of the most influential artists in the 21st century. Coincidentally, he was also good friends with Andy Warhol, another influential artist of our time. Basquiats graffiti works also had political poetical overtones. He used the pseudonym SAMO as a graffiti artist, and often drew on random surfaces and objects. Basquiats style is neo-expressionism. He still used some styles he learned when he was merely a graffiti artists, like incorporating words, letters, pictograms, map symbols, logos, numbers, diagrams and codes into his paintings.

How to Look After Your Skin in Summer

Summer sun and temperatures are beloved because they provide you with the opportunity to spend more time outdoors doing the things you love. However, the sun and temperatures come at a price and it is your skin that pays that price. Sun damage can lead to premature aging of the skin, wrinkles, marks, dry skin, and even skin cancer over time. The hottest season of the year requires careful thought for your skin even as you enjoy the heat and freedom of summer. 1. Understand how the summer sun impacts your skin. Its important to know how the suns rays impact your skin, especially when youre seeking to cut through the hype on cosmetic labels. 2. Stay out of the sun between the hours of 10am and 3pm. The hottest part of the day during the summer is the most damaging time. Dont stay out in the sun for long periods of time around the hottest hours; the longer youre outside, the longer your skin is exposed to the radiation. Get your exercise and activities done in the earlier, cooler hours, or in the later, cooler hours of the day. 3. Wear protective clothing over your skin. A lot of clothing in outdoor stores and fashion stores has a UV protection rating and some clothes are impregnated with a UV-absorbing colorless dye. The UV protection rating is a good indicator of how clothing can act as an excellent barrier against the suns rays. Cover up as much skin as you can, using lightweight fabrics when its really hot and uncomfortable. Choose fabrics that wont itch, scratch, or overheat you and prefer light colors over dark ones, to keep the heat level down. 4. Ditch the obsession with a tan. Sunbathing or using a solarium increases your chances of damaging your skin and getting skin cancers. Moreover, sunbathing will add a good 20 years to your age by dehydrating and wrinkling your skin. Do you really want that? 5. Give your skin a break. By watching the weather over summer, you can work out the days when you wont need to slather on the chemicals, such as when its pouring with rain or its a very overcast day. Be sure to pop on your hat and cover clothing as usual because UV rays still penetrate the clouds; you can at least allow your skin a break from the sunscreen. 6. Rinse skin after swimming. This is especially important when youve been swimming in chlorinated environments as the chlorine can dry out your skin and for some people it can even result in an allergic reaction. Besides, its a lot nicer to smell neutral rather than of chlorine!

7. Avoid spraying perfume on your skin in the sun. The psoralens in perfume (especially in citrus perfumes) can permanently stain your skin when they react with the sun. During the summertime, it is recommended that you spritz your clothes with your fragrance rather than your skin 8. Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is better skin and its easy for skin to become parched during the summer months. Dehydration results in dry skin, frown-lines, spots, a sluggish complexion and a lack of glow. Drink water regularly throughout the day, preferably between meals (drinking during meals can dilute the nutrients from food). Water will both hydrate your skin and flush out toxins that can mar your complexion 9. Eat healthy foods. A healthy skin comes from eating well and summer is the ideal time to make dietary changes for the better. Cut down on sugar and refined processed foods which create unbalanced blood sugar levels and therefore contribute to premature aging. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, in salads, steamed, raw, or as part of a recipe dish. Choose from the rainbow of fruit and vegetable colors to ensure that youre getting all the antioxidants and nutrients your skin needs. A diet rich in flavonoids will help to ensure a healthy and glowing skin. And include whole grains in your daily diet too, including the ancient grains.

SOME WORDS WITH

SIWANI MOKTAN

I started singing at a very early age, however I might say it officially started when I was six years old and I won the All Nepal Singing Competition organized by Bal Mandir, which provided me with the opportunity of recording the song at Radio Nepal. Since then there has been no looking back! I was an active participant in all musical events held in my school, Galaxy Public School, and was a part of the music club. Besides that, I also took private tuitions for Eastern Classical Vocals, learnt the keyboards with my father, picked up on guitar by reading through the easy guide books, learnt every other instrument by simply asking their respective owners to give me some easy lessons. When I was 14, I started working at Image F.M. as an RJ which is where I met Nirnaya da NSK and with him I recorded my first commercial song. At 16, I released my first album which got me my first Hits F.M. Music Award for Best New Artist. Numerous programs and collaborations later, I released my second album at 19; a song of which gave me another award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Ive been working with various artists and musicians and collaborating for movies and albums. At 22, I was nominated for Best Rock Artist and Best Rock Composition at the Hits FM Awards. At around this time, I collaborated with the members of 1974 A.D. and we formed our own band by the name of Supersonic and we performed at a number of venues! It was fun and exhilarating and challenging at the same time. It gave me the opportunity to learn so much about music and how bands work and the chemistry that bands share and just how to carry myself confidently while working with such legends in the Nepali music scene. The band lasted for about 2 months after which we went our separate ways. Meanwhile, the Kollywood music scene was changing in Nepal and this trend for item numbers had started. Manoj KC dai of 1974 AD was doing the music for this mainstream movie called Highway and one day he just came up to me and asked me to sing the item song for that movie. It was weird since I had never sung anything remotely close to that genre, but I took up the offer nevertheless. Soon we were recording and the song got released.. the response we got was just something else! Some people were very supportive of it, while some thought it was a complete waste of money and energy! However, for me the song did wonders! I got more established as a commercial artist and I had many offers from film producers and music directors where I recorded many other item numbers. The songs are very different from the ones that I write, but even then its fun to sing them and perform them on stage! At 24, my life seems almost perfect. I currently work at Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, which is a music institute that teaches young musicians to enjoy music and follow their hearts. I just completed my MBA from Ace Institute of Management, so education wise Im pretty set, you could tell. I collaborate with numerous musicians and also work on solo stuff as well as with my elder sister Shital. Im still writing songs and making music and I know I have a long way to go, but when youre doing something that you really really love, I guess the long way is pretty much worth it!!!

How to get rid of body odour

Is excessive sweating bothering you? Follow these tips to say goodbye to body odour this summer. Humidity levels are rising and perspiration is a major problem that Mumbaikars have to deal with every day. While everyone perspires, only some of us sweat excessively and that is when it becomes a problem. Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, may be hereditary. It could also be caused due to hormonal imbalance, high emotional excitement, spicy foods, exercise, or stress. Here are a few things you could follow to ease out the problem. Flush out toxins with water You may have heard this many times before, but water not only cleanses your body, it also prevents underarm odour. In addition, having at least two showers is hygienic and will help combat excessive sweating and get rid of the offensive odour. Wear the right clothes Wearing cotton clothes helps your skin to breathe and you can deal better with excessive sweating. Avoid fabrics that are likely to create irritation and heat up the skin, causing excessive sweating. Lime and lemony Lime helps you reduce sweating, prevent body odour and bleach your under arm. You could rub one half of a lime (not too ripe) on your armpits. You may feel mild irritation. However, if you are suffering from rashes, avoid using lime. Spray on some freshness Cans of antiperspirants and deodourants do help to some extent in keeping body odour at bay, but it may not hold true for everyone. Antiperspirants usually work by clogging the pores, which stops sweat from reaching the surface of your skin. Though they help get rid of perspiration almost immediately, the chemicals in them could cause side-effects like irritation and discoloured skin. Lose weight and minimise sweating Start eating healthy and lose weight as excess weight leads to excessive sweating. If your weight is already normal, you need to include more fibre to your diet and avoid spices. This will help you to flush away all the toxins from your body. Try vinegar to combat the problem You may be surprised, but apply vinegar on your armpits before sleeping at night and let it dry naturally. Wash it off the next morning. Applying apple cider on your armpits can also help solve the problem of excessive sweating gradually. (Compiled by Debarati S Sen)

A glance of restaurant in Nepal

- Ujjwol Pokhrel A restaurant (is an establishment which prepares and serves food and drink to customers in return for money, either paid before the meal, after the meal, or with a running tab. Meals are generally served and eaten on premises, but many restaurants also offer take-out and food delivery services. Restaurants vary greatly in appearance and offerings, including a wide variety of the main chef 's cuisines and service models. If we look at history of restaurants then, food catering establishments which may be described as restaurants were known since the 11th century in Kaifeng, China's northern capital during the first half of the Song Dynasty (9601279). With a population of over 1,000,000 people, a culture of hospitality and a paper currency, Kaifeng was ripe for the development of restaurants. Thus as a staple of life our need to eat has developed from a basic form of simply feeding our bodies with the fuel it requires, to a complicated art of presentation and taste combined with our intrinsic need to experiment with everything we see, touch, smell and of course taste. From the sandwich shop to the award winning restaurants, we can always find a place that prepares and sells the food we want at a reasonable price, although cooking or preparing food for ourselves may be a cheaper or healthier option it never seems to taste the same as our local restaurant. Nepal is the country where Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak in the world, is located. Mountaineering and other types of adventure tourism and ecotourism are important attractions for visitors. The world heritage Lumbini, birthplace of Gautam Buddha, is located in southern Nepal, and there are other

important religious pilgrimage sites throughout the country. The government of Nepal declared 2011 to be Nepal Tourism Year, and hoped to attract one million foreign tourists to the country during that year. The internal tourism as well is of great importance in Nepal. Therefore, more investors have been attracted towards tourism-related ventures like hotels, restaurants and travel companies with the start of the peace process in Nepal in 2006. If we just took a quick look over the capital city Kathmandu, then we can find restaurants, cafeterias, coffee shops almost in every corner, and must say that they are running a good business. We can find varieties of restaurants like from the most expensive with a fine cuisine and hygiene maintained to a small coffee shop or momo shop that is affordable to most of the people. Nepal has every kind of restaurants to satisfy the taste buds and palate of different types of people. You can find Thai, Mexican, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Chinese, Continental hangouts at par with the fast food joints, pubs to local restaurants which will serve you its authentic and sumptuous Nepali, Newari or Thakali food. From the kitchens of Thamel (the most popular tourist destination in Kathmandu) to the newly formed restaurant hub Jhamel (Jhamsikhel) is the most popular places in town to satisfy your taste buds. Eating out is an expensive business, so you really want to be sure of a good experience. Sadly, this doesnt always happen. A good

restaurant should have a good food ofcourse, good service, pricing, location and also the noise level, the music too loud might not be always appropriate unless u move into a pub or a so. And finally, give your restaurant a unique twist. If your restaurant has a special feature it will make it stand out from the other thousands of restaurants and it will make the customers have a memorable time. This can be done by employing many different aspects from slightly different food, how the specials are shown, how the restaurant is furnished and so on. For me, a good restaurant is one where the wine list is imaginative, with a well chosen selection of wines, and where the pricing isnt too rapacious. So, it depends on a personal choice. Although restaurant owners consistently display these positive characteristics, it's no secret that many new restaurateurs find themselves faced with moderate and even severe challenges in turning their restaurants into successful businesses. There's a lot of truth in the statement, "opening a restaurant is the easy part, the real challenge is making money at it." Therefore, we can say that Nepal is doing awesome in the field of food business, considering the popular cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini etc which is a place of tourist attraction as well and which allows a list of restaurants running and increasing day by day to provide a good servie to the tourists as well as local people. With a blend of nature and organic farms, most of the restaurants have the plus point too. Thus, we all know There is no love sincerer than the love of food.
