Welcome to the North Dakota Center for

Distance Education!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the North Dakota Center for Distance
Education (ND CDE)!

For over seventy years, students from around the state, nation, and world have chosen
to use ND CDE for their educational needs. In doing so, these students have had
access to a challenging, diverse curriculum that has been developed by top-notch,
highly-qualified instructors.

Since its founding in 1935, ND CDE’s commitment has been to provide

personal and caring service to the many students and schools that it serves. From its beginnings as a rela-
tively small four-year high school program, the program has expanded and grown to include offerings
for grades 6 through 12.

In the last twelve years, ND CDE has spent a great amount of time and energy developing our
online program, and we are proud to offer over 100 courses online. In addition, we have in
the last year implemented a new, more user-friendly online class platform called Moodle.

All of our online courses incorporate a variety of instructional techniques that are
used to assess our students’ progress. In addition, our courses are specifically

solutions will be stressed throughout the course.

Prerequisites: Four years of secondary mathematics designed for college-bound

students including geometry, trigonometry, analytic geometry, and elementary
functions.

Required: A graphing calculator which is approved by AP Central and includes

these capabilities:
• Plot the graph of a function within an arbitrary viewing window,
• Find the zeros of functions (solve equations numerically),
• Numerically calculate the derivative of a function, and
• Numerically calculate the value of a definite integral.

The course examples reference the TI-83 graphing calculator.
