When involving yourself in social media it is important to consider what exactly you are using the platform for.

Social media has an enormous amount of influence on job opportunities, personal relationships, professional relationships, etc. It is crucial to conduct yourself on and off your social media platform as a professional, and consider how your posts affect others. Among my social media platforms, I use Twitter and Facebook the most. I have tweeted and posted statuses about my life and things going on in it as well as a combination of tweets about editing, how to become a better writer, self branding, business cards, and even web site design. The key things to remember when posting on social media platforms is to consider the subject and your audience. If youre going for a job interview and you provide the link to your Twitter account, dont tweet about events that could hinder your chances. Consider how your posts will affect others. If you post something directed toward a certain person or a certain group of people the result will be ugly. Keep to yourself unless youre looking for that sort of thing. Most importantly, be yourself! As Dr. Seuss says: Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you!.
