Choose at least one activity from each Blooms Taxonomy. These may be researched during Library and are to be submitted as part of your homework each week.
Remembering
1. Find some places with Aboriginal names on a map of Australia. List 10 and what they mean. List 10 other Aboriginal words and their meanings. 2. What was the land used for by Aboriginal people before Europeans arrived. Draw a scene to illustrate this and write an explanation of your picture 3. What musical instruments are used at a Corroboree? List and illustrate.

Analysing

1. Find out why Uluru is an important site for the Aborigines who live there. 2. Make a chart to compare the various weapons used by the Aboriginal people e.g. How were they used? Shape? Size? Material? 3. You are an Aboriginal child. List the things that you would be expected to learn. How will these skills help you to survive? Would they be helpful to you now? Explain your answer. 4. Compare the way tribes in different parts of Australia lived e.g. Sea/inland, food, shelter, weapons, tools 1. Create your own Australian flag incorporating something that would symbolise the Aboriginal community. Outline your reasons. Draw an Aboriginal weapon. Draw a design on it using appropriate colours and features. Research Aboriginal paintings. What symbols are used? Design your own symbols. Use your own symbols in a picture to tell a story or happening. Research boomerangs. What different types of designs are there? What are they used for? Do all boomerangs come back? Design your own boomerang.

1. Explain what is meant by the Dreamtime and why it is important in traditional Aboriginal culture. 2. Explain some aspects of the way Aboriginal people lived in their traditional lifestyle e.g. the differences between men and women. 3. Explain why Aboriginal people only build temporary shelters. Draw a diagram to help explain your answer. 4. Why are Corroborees important to Aboriginal people? What happens during a Corroboree?

Evaluating

1. Design a weapon to help you survive in the outback. Describe its use and illustrate. 2. Compare maps of the world today and the world 40,000 years ago. Explain how you think the land/sea has changed and its effect on the animals. 3. You are an Aboriginal person seeing a horse for the first time. How would you describe it to your family in relation to the animals they do know? Write your description.
