We the parishioners of Saint Michael the Archangel, through leadership and strong traditions are faithful disciples of the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. We commit ourselves to be generous stewards of our faith, our parish, and our community. We strive to involve all members to be united in one parish family for the salvation of all. Notes from the Pastor: Many of you must have already heard of the news, which is both happy and sad: Bishop Jackels is promoted to Archbishop of Dubuque, in Iowa thats happy to note, as he is promoted to that position. However, it is sad because that means he is leaving us comes May 30 th when he will be installed into his new archdiocese. Up to now we do not know yet who will be our next bishop. So we need to pray more for our diocese for the Holy Spirits guidance especially as we are awaiting for the next bishop of Wichita! Let us also continue to pray for Bishop Jackels as he moves on to his new assignment. This April 18, I am also celebrating my 27th year anniversary as a priest! My priesthood is not mine but a gift of God for the Christian community. So pray for me in thanksgiving to God for the gift of the priesthood. My Wednesday evening mass here at Saint Michael this April 17 th will be offered for this intention. May God continue to bless me with His grace to persevere in this vocation! Here in our parish, we already have established the practice at mass to have our children bring in their offerings (which is a wonderful training for them). They do it ahead of the offerings of the bread and wine. This results in having a kind of two offertory processions. I have tolerated this for a while studying how to put this into order. What we can do is move the offerings of the kids to that part after the collectors have past the collection basket. It is then that we will ask the kids to go to the entrance of the church when the collectors and gift bearers are ready to bring the offerings of bread and wine. If there are altar servers, the kids form two lines and follow the altar servers and offer their gifts, and back to their pews. The last at offertory procession are the bread the wine. To manage the kids at the line, the Ushers/Greeters will play an important role. It is providential that we have lots of people signing up to be ushers and greeters: Rhonda & Tony Stonerock, Mark & Trish Peak, John & Mary Gilpin, Bob & Linda Moore, Rod & Barb Murphy, Next Sunday(04/21/13)
