Introduction to Engro:
Engro Corporation is Pakistans one of the largest amasses and its business ranges from fertilizers to power generation. Engro Corporation currently consists of seven business units that include power generation, industrial automation, PVC resin, foods, chemical fertilizers, commodity trade and a bulk liquid chemical training. Engro Corporation provides a long vision for the business units and also oversees the performance of the its subsidiaries, it is also responsible for leadership development, human resource guiding management of talent, CSR activities, legal & IT support, allocation of capital, control structures, control structures and leadership roles in public relations. Engro works continually towards its vision and has come a long way to become a premier Pakistani company globally. In the journey of Engro to become a profitable and a growth oriented company, their management has played an important role for creating more transparent organization.

Human Resource Management


The human resource dept: at Engro Corporation forefronts the recruitment process to guarantee that the finest human resource is taken on board at Engro. The resumes of the candidates are filed and documented for current or future references. The department and implements the human resource policies relating to employment, retirement and retention along with carrying out succession plans.

The Recruitment Process:


The HR team comprises of four members from the non-executive Directors of the Board, including the chairman. The HR team has been delegated the role of assisting the Board of Directors in ensuring that the Company is able to retain and attract a motivated, professional and competent workforce. The recruitment process is different for two different categories of people. First is the NonManagement Profession and Technician and the second is Management Profession and Technician. There are seven business units of Engro; each has separate HR departments which evaluate the candidates for respective positions in their division. In Engro, the recruitment process basically involves following steps:

Identification of need:
If there is a new position to be created then Compensation Organization and Executive Development Committee (COED) checks for it. If an existing position has become vacant due to any reason then the department notifies the Human Resource Dept: to place an advertisement in the newspaper.

Advertisement by Engro:
HR department places the ads in the newspaper to call for resumes. The ads specify the job description and the job specification. These are the listings of duties as well as desirable qualifications for a particular job. Engro also recruit graduates through rozee.pk and university recruitment course. Engro also advertise through career websites of our relevant corporation as well as in the course of national and local newspapers.

Selection process at Engro:


Selection is the process of choosing the best from those recruited candidates. Engros selection process involves completion of the following steps:
1. Application form and resume 2. Cognitive ability tests 3. Telephone interviews 4. Direct interviews 5. Offer of employment

The HR department is involved in the selection procedure, like evaluation of the candidates, analyzing resumes, interviewing, screening, hiring and training etc. Engros widespread workplace and a varied platform of businesses provide employees with matchless career options and every chance to outshine.

Training and Education system at Engro:


Engro Corporation provides different ranges of training facilities in two main programs that are core management and technical. If any need is there of one- off programs then they also are created. The people of Engro attend internal training programs as well as external training programs. There are cases where learning from planned experience is best answer to the training program.
