Each year, someone different takes on the responsibility of organizing our Coventry Neighborhood Annual Block Party. This year, Susan Weber took it on with the help of neighborhood volunteers and scheduled the party earlier so that all the snowbirds could be included. Over 200 people attended the event in the Ballroom. Music and entertainment were provided by Armour Gomez, who also lives in Coventry. Theresa Van Cleave suggested we bring non-parishable food items for the Florence Food Bank in exchange for raffle tickets. Donna Jurgens organized the food collection and she requested the Food Bank truck to park in the entrance of our Community Center the day of our party. The rest is history, as the food poured in and we began to fill the truck. When the food pantry truck arrived, Art mentioned that their shelves were bare and they didnt know how they were going to supply Fridays distribution. As the food started pouring in, it was obvious Art and his helpers were overwhelmed with the generosity of our community. A committee is now forming to continue to support the Food Bank.
