I will also prepare lots of information pertaining to paleontology and fossils. This information will be ready and laid out for me so I can tell the children the facts and show them some pictures. Describe in DETAIL why you believe this activity is DAP. Use the NAEYC the Developmentally Appropriate Practice Manual and cite references to support your statement. 1 Draws on childrens curiosity and encourages children to pursue their own questions and develop their own ideas. 2 Provides access to science experiences for all children. Explain in DETAIL exactly how you will present this activity to the children. I will start by explaining what the activity is and giving an example of how to do it. After they are done I will talk to them about the facts I have prepared and show them the pictures. Then I will take any questions they may have.

List open-ended questions that you plan to ask children to prompt their thinking. (For infants and toddlers, list comments that you might make concerning the activity.) What kind of dinosaurs are there? What are fossils? Have you ever seen a fossil before? Where can you find fossils? What color are dinosaurs? How do dinosaurs have babies? How do the beans feel? What do you feel? What do you see? Closure and Transition: Explain in DETAIL how you will bring the activity to a close and send the children on to the next activity. I will end with the children asking me questions and if they have no other questions they may go wash their hands and prepare for the next activity. If I have one child they will go but if there is more than one child they will go one at a time. Evaluation of Child Mastery: (objective measure of success) The children will know what a dinosaur is and how they become a fossil. They will also become familiar with paleontology and the tools used to do that type of job. Activity Plan Sheet
