Clariene A. Stutelberg
Clariene A. Stutelberg, 83, of Benson, passed away Thursday,
March 14, 2013 at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane
Healthcare Center in Benson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21 at Our
Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson with Rev. Seth Novak
ofciating.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the
Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to the
service at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.

Leslie G. Fenton Bolt
June 1, 1954 March 10, 2013
Leslie G. Fenton Bolt, 58, of Kerkhoven, died Sunday afternoon,
March 10, at the Rice Care Center in Willmar.
A memorial service was held
at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March
14, at the Cornerstone Baptist
Church in Willmar.
Leslie G. Fenton Bolt was
born June 1, 1954, in Litch-
eld, Minnesota, the daughter
of Hugh and Virginia (Stevens)
Fenton. She grew up in Litch-
eld and was baptized and con-
rmed in the Lutheran faith. She
graduated from Litcheld High
School in 1972 and then attend-
ed the Willmar Community Col-
lege.
In 1973, Leslie was united in
marriage to Wayne Evenson and
they lived in Litcheld, Park
Rapids and Arizona. In 1993,
Leslie was married to Jerry Bolt
and they lived in North Carolina. In 2000, Leslie returned to live in
Kerkhoven. She was employed at Darolds Super Value Foods in
Benson.
Her hobbies included reading and being an avid fan of NASCAR
and the Minnesota Twins. She also cherished the time spent with her
family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (and Jennifer) Evenson of
Kerkhoven and Matthew (and Sarah) Evenson of Alexandria and six
grandchildren, Kaia, Adrian, Kori, Moriah, Noah and Annah. Also
surviving is her mother, Virginia Fenton of Litcheld; two siblings,
Dynee (and Bill) Ness and family of Kerkhoven and Steve (and
Tammy) Fenton and family of Litcheld and her beloved canine
companion, Cody, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh in 1993.
Marvin E. Zurn
January 24, 1923 March 7, 2013
Marvin Edward Zurn, 90, of DeGraff, died Thursday, March 7,
2013, at the Swift County Benson Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial was 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March
13, 2013, at St. Bridgets Catholic Church in DeGraff with Fa-
ther William Sprigler ofciating.
Burial was in the St. Bridgets Catholic Cemetery.
Marvin Edward Zurn was born in Grace Township, Chippe-
wa County, Minnesota to Efe Mae (Payne) and John William
Zurn January 24, 1923. He was
baptized and conrmed in the
Catholic faith at St. Bridgets
Catholic Church and attended
school in Grace Township. He
grew up and lived his entire
life in Grace Township, Chip-
pewa County.
Marvin farmed all his life on
the family farm in Grace Town-
ship. He served on the ASCS
Ofce Board, as a Supervisor
for Grace Township, on St.
Bridgets Financial Board, as
a Church Deacon, and on the
Hillside Cemetery Board in
Grace Township. Marvin re-
ceived the Bishops Medal for
Service for his many years of
active membership with the Church of St. Bridgets.
He enjoyed gardening owers and vegetables.
Marvin is survived by one niece, Darla Hettver of Shoreview,
Minnesota; three nephews: Lyle (Karen) Hettver of Alberta,
Floyd (Beverly) Hettver of DeGraff, and Duane (Cheryl) Hettver
of Bloomington; three great-nieces, Nikki (Carl) Vogt, Kaycia
Hettver, and Amanda (Bryan) Schafer; six great-nephews: Mi-
chael (Breana) Hettver, Keaton Hettver, Kirby (Amanda) Het-
tver, Kerry (Becky) Hettver, Chris (Ashley) Hettver, and Eric
Hettver; ve great-great-nieces: Katelyn Vogt, Kyra Vogt, Ame-
lia Hettver, Hazelee Hettver, and Alana Edwardson; four great-
great-nephews: Hunter Vogt, Isaac Hettver, Gavin Hettver, and
Shane Pehrson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Efe Zurn;
one brother, Floyd Zurn; and one sister, Irene Hettver.
Steven Nokleby
April 4, 1951 March 8, 2013
Steve Nokleby died Friday, March 8, 2013 at his home in rural
Montevideo at the age of 61.
Memorial services were conducted Tuesday, March 12, 2013
at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo
with Rev. Marie Eckberg ofci-
ating.
Organist was Nancy Strand
and vocalist was Dorian
Chalmers who sang Great Is
Thy Faithfulness. Congrega-
tional hymns were O Jesus, I
Have Promised and For The
Beauty Of The Earth.
Honorary bearers were all
his nieces, nephews and great
nieces and nephews.
Interment was in the Je-
vnaker Lutheran Cemetery.
Steven Craig Nokleby was
born April 4, 1951 in Montevi-
deo, Minnesota to Arnold and
Eileen (Anderson) Nokleby.
He was baptized and conrmed
at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He attended rural school, Milan
Public Schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in
1969. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead and South-
west State in Marshall.
June 13, 1982 he was united in marriage to Susan Christen-
son at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson. He farmed
in Mandt Township and was a long-time Pioneer Seed and Pre-
cision Planting Dealer. He was a life-long member of Jevnaker
Lutheran Church and served on various leadership positions in
the church. He was a member of the Chippewa Soil and Water
Conservation Board, Chippewa River Watershed Project Board,
the Corn Growers Board and in 1989 was named the Conserva-
tion Farmer of the Year. He enjoyed collecting farming memo-
rabilia, shing, traveling and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; children: Jessica (and Kaleb)
Schwendemann of Benson, and Adam Nokleby of Albany; his par-
ents, Arnold and Eileen Nokleby of Montevideo; ve sisters: Susan
Nokleby of Bemidji, Gail (and Randy) Strickler of Clovis, Gwen
(and Tom) Bowler of Montevideo, Janet Nokleby (and Olindo Lam-
mawin) of Moorpark, CA and Jill (and John) Kaiser of Brooklyn
Park; a mother-in-law, Myrt Christenson of Benson; two sisters-in-
law: Janice Baranczyk of Oconto Falls, WI and Diane Christenson
of Willmar, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces
and nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Alvin Christenson
and his grandparents.
Irwin A. Flaten
June 29, 1925 March 7, 2013
Irwin A. Flaten, 87, of Eau Claire, died peacefully in the early
morning hours of March 7, 2013 at the Palliative Care Unit of
Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI.
Funeral services for Irwin
were held at Grace Lutheran
Church, in Eau Claire, Tues-
day, March 12, 2013, at 11:00
a.m. with Pastors Rolf A. Nest-
ingen and David J. Irgens of-
ciating.
Interment took place at Ev-
ergreen Cemetery, County
Highway M, Colfax, WI at
2:00 p.m. following services at
the church.
Irwin Augustine Flaten was
born on the family farm at
Camp Lake in Swift Coun-
ty, Minnesota June 29, 1925.
He was the son of Carl Nels
and Inga Regina (Wanberg)
Flaten. After attending a ru-
ral one-room school (District
79 at Camp Lake) through
the eighth grade, in order to attend high school, Irwin moved
to Benson, Minnesota at age 14 and lived with his Uncle Raney
Wanberg. After graduating, Irwin enlisted in the US Navy in
1943. He served as an Electricians Mate Third Class on a troop
ship, the USS Pondera, APA 191 from October 1943 until June
1946, seeing action in the Pacic Theatre, including the Battle
for Okinawa.
After his Naval service, Irwin attended Concordia College in
Moorhead, graduating in 1950. Irwin married Edith M. Sevalson
June 7, 1950, in Swift Falls. Irwin then attended Luther Theological
Seminary in St. Paul, graduating in 1954. He was ordained in the
Evangelical Lutheran Church (which through mergers later became
the American Lutheran Church and is now the Evangelical Luther-
an Church in America) May 23, 1954 at his home congregation,
Rolling Forks Lutheran Church, in rural Sedan, Minnesota (Rolling
Forks later merged with Saint Pauli and Swift Falls to become the
current Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church).
Irwin served as Pastor to the congregations at Bethel-Borea Lu-
theran Church in Superior (1954-1956), Christ Lutheran in Wash-
burn (1956-1965), Colfax Lutheran in Colfax (1965-1978), and
Augusta-Foster Lutheran in Augusta & Foster (1984-1989). Irwin
became certied as an Alcoholism-Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC
III) in 1977. He served in Extended Service from the American
Lutheran Church Ministry as the Executive Director of Eau Claire
County Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse from 1978
to 1984. He also served as Chaplain to AODA programs at Wynot
Rehabilitation Center, Weyhauser; Dunn County Health Care Cen-
ter, Menomonie; Rain Tree Center, Mondovi; L.E. Phillips Libertas
Center in Chippewa Falls; and Luther Hospital Genesis Program in
Eau Claire. He received several awards as a Friend of AA from area
Alcoholic Anonymous groups. He also was a board member of the
Wisconsin Association on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse (WAAO-
DA) for many years.
Irwin received his rst experience as an Interim or Long-Term
Supply Pastor in 1978. After he ofcially retired in 1989, Irwin
studied Intentional Interim Ministry and started a new career as an
Intentional Interim Pastor. In that capacity, he served many congre-
gations including Augusta, Arcadia, Birchwood, Bloomer, Chippe-
wa Falls, rural Colfax, Cumberland, Downsville, Foster, Hayward,
Hixton, Independence, Lyster (Nelson), Medford, Mondovi, Pleas-
antville, Pigeon Falls, Sparta, Star Prairie, Superior and Whitehall,
Wisconsin. He also was proud to serve as an Intentional Interim to
his home congregation, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in
Swift Falls, Minnesota.
After 58 years of active ministry, Irwin preached his last sermon
at Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church on the second Sunday in
January 2012.
Irwin is survived by ve sons: Paul (Connie) of Swift Falls, and
their sons, Michael (DeeDee) and Chad Rosen and their families
of Swift Falls; Daniel (Yvette) of Eau Claire and their children,
Matthew (Laura Dean) of Karkov, Ukraine and Avril of Eau Claire;
Timothy (Sara) of Richland, Washington and their children, Joanna
of St Paul, Minnesota, David of Juneau, Alaska, and Erik of Bea-
verton, Oregon; Mark (Lisa Novotny) of Golden Valley, Minnesota,
and their children, Nicholas of Rie, Colorado, Natalya of Minne-
apolis, and Kyla of Ely, Minnesota; James (Barbara) of Eau Claire
and their children, Carl (Jessica) of Elk Mound and Kayla (Rodney)
Shafer of Altoona. He is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Flat-
en of Swift Falls, sister-in-saw Anna Offerdahl of Benson, brother-
in-law Milton Skarsten of Swift Falls, and many nieces, nephews,
cousins and other relatives.
Irwin is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 62
years, Edith, and his brother Eldon.

Easter Egg Hunt March 30
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages three
through sixth grade Saturday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the
First Evangelical Free Church, 900 13th St. S. in Benson
(south edge of town). There will be an egg hunt whatever the
weather -- rain, sun, or snow. Candy, special prizes,and Easter
handouts will be given out to the children, as well as door
prizes for all age categories. Have fun and hear the story of
Easter told using Resurrection Easter Eggs!
Roselle E. Johnson
Roselle Evelyn Johnson, 78, of Benson, died Sunday, March
17, 2013 at the Golden Living Center - Meadow Lane in Benson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Trinity Lu-
theran Church in Benson with Rev. Gary Brandenburg ofciat-
ing. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 22 at the Trinity
Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue at the church for one
hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
