SCHUYLERVILLE ROBOTICS TAKES HOME TWO ROOKIE AWARDS. Thanks to NASA and the generosity of a few local businesses, the Schuylerville Robotics Team was able to finance its trip to Rochester March 1 and 2, to participate in the Finger Lakes Regional First Robotics Competition. This rookie team did an outstanding job as they battled against many veteran teams. After nine matches, with a final record of 4 - 5 - 0, this rookie team placed 29th out of a field of 49 teams and brought home two prestigious awards: Highest Rookie Seed Award and Rookie Inspiration Award. The team would also like to thank their friends from Team 250 out of Colonie, New York, for their guidance and on-going support.

COMMUNITY FORUM ON ATHLETICS PROGRAMBolton Central School Districts Board of Education will hold a community forum with the topic being the schools athletic program at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the BCS gym. SCHAGHTICOKE FAIR ANNOUNCES 2013 FAIR THEME AND DESIGN CONTEST
The Schaghticoke Fair is very excited to announce the 2013 fair theme as Whos Your Super Hero? This theme was chosen to represent the many different kinds of people that are super heroes every day. The fair will be introducing Whos Your Super Hero? into the buildings, exhibits, fair entries, and contests. In addition to Super Hero, the fair will be initiating for the first time a food drive. Building on the theme, Souper the contest design entries can incorporate this spelling and or design elements. We want the students to have fun with the idea and we are looking for some creative input. Lauren Madigan, a student at Hoosic Valley High School was the winner of last years Happy Feet theme design contest. The contest is open to all currently enrolled high school students throughout Rensselaer County. The selected design will be used on the 2013 fair brochure, t-shirt and for marketing purposes. Each student that submits one design entry will receive a one day fair pass to the 2013 Schaghticoke Fair. In addition to having the winners work published, the winner will also receive a one day fair pass with one unlimited ride ticket, a 2013 Whos Your Super/Souper Hero? T-shirt, a certificate of achievement presented during the week of the fair and will also become an honorary judge for future themed design contests. Partnering with the Ballston Area Community Center and the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center, Brookside helped BACC children create 56 origami swans that will be distributed to The Saratoga County Domestic Violence Safe House, The Vet House, and The Guardian House in Ballston Spa. This activity was inspired by Random Acts of Kindness Week, where people are encouraged to do good deeds randomly. Random Acts of Kindness Week occurs annually. Also celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week, the DVRC recently worked with BACC children to create a Kindness Quilt. The project was inspired by the book, The Kindness Quilt, by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. Over 40 children in grades K through 7th participated in the project.
