Oceana Bill
Summary/Abstract
A bill outlining the structure and operation of the proposed Oceana Defence Force, and the process of the reassignment of existing military assets to integrate into the new structure.
Article I Overview
Section 1 The number of military personnel shall be reduced from 42,300 to 26,800. Section 2 Three (3) military bases shall be closed down. Section 3 A 4.3 bn shall be invested in modernising the military.

Article XI Redundancies
Section 1 The overall number of military personnel shall be reduced from 42,300 to 26,800. Section 2 All military personnel shall be given the option of voluntary severance before any involuntary redundancies are considered. Involuntary redundancy will be based on skills and service record. Section 3 Those made redundant in the army shall be given the option to retrain for the additional jobs created in the navy and air force. Section 4 Personnel leaving the military shall be given preference for jobs in the newly created border agency. Section 5 A sum of A 450 million shall be set aside for severance pay. This is equal to one years full pay for each of the 15,500 personnel made redundant.
