We are OTA DTV view ers, so this device just broadened our view ing experience. We can time shift our favorite programs to a better time for view ing and are just beginning to experiment w ith streaming through VUDU. We are still a little confused as to w hy w e can't w atch the online Netw orks listed on the ChannelMasterTV w eb site on the DVR, only on our computer. No complaints though, it's a w onderful addition to our entertainment center!

I got this to replace a Sony DVR as TVGOS is going aw ay. I just started it on 10 Jan 13 and upgraded to premium guide on 19 Jan 13. The unit is fairly easy to use and is w orking w ell. I am not sure about the premium guide yet, if it is w orthw hile. Seems it should have the year for movies included in description and it w as slow to update all the listings, w hich w as not mentioned in the instructions. It is nice to be able to w atch one TV show and record another at the same time. I am pleased so far and still learning the differences betw een it and my old Sony. I think the tuners in it are superior to my old Sony DVR. Channel Master has been good

at answ ering my questions via email and they extended a free year of premium guide to my purchase so I am very happy about that. So far good!

When Rovi announced that they w ere ending TV Guide On Screen, I knew that I had to find a new w ay to record over the air TV programming. The CM 7400 is one of very few consumer electronics products that fits the bill. My first encounter w ith the CM 7400 w as not trouble-free. The pow er supply, w hich is outside the DVR's case, w as DOA. During the w inter holidays it took nearly a month to get it replaced. Once the pow er supply arrived, setup w as a breeze. The quick start guide and users guide are clear, and the setup w izard w alks the user through the w hole process easily. I w as ready to w atch and record OTA show s in under 15 minutes. I purchased the CM 7400 at a time w hen a coupon for a year of free guide service w as included. The tw o w eek guide is comprehensive and complete. I w ill no doubt re-up w hen my free year's subscription ends. My only problem w ith the CM 7400 is w ith the heat engineering. There are no internal fans, and the box runs hot. As computers prefer a cooler environment, I have had one spontaneous reboot and one lockup of the CM 7400, w hich I had to clear by unplugging and re-plugging the pow er supply. I have placed the CM 7400 on a notebook fan, and that has significantly reduced both heat and related problems. Consumers of OTA TV w ill find the CM 7400 a great w ay to timeshift view ing. But get yourself a laptop/notebook fan to keep it cool.

I playback recorded programs w hile I ride my Eliptical. I am evaluating ditching Direct TV in favor of broadcast TV since I am in the Chicago & South Bend, IN markets. Beautiful HD recording of primetime netw ork show s. Jump Ahead occurs instantly like DISH, you don't have to w atch as in Direct TV. Box is very w arm on and is still w arm w hen off. -Your staff prematurely closed my customer service complaint w ithout talking to me. My problem w ith the FREE premium prgram guide is not resolved. You may delete this from the review . Please contact me CASE 31746.

We w ere super excited to have a DVR that didn't need a subscription. After lots of research w e bought one as a Christmas gift for the w hole family. We decided to buy straight from the MFG a full price one. Glad w e did because it only w orked for 5 minutes before it stopped w orking. Once it cooled dow n it w ould w ork again. Customer service said the free one year programming w ould fix the problem, but w e specifically bought it so w e didn't need a subscription. Would w e have to buy programming after the first year to keep it w orking? We REALLY w anted to love this and think its great its on the market. It needs some w ork though. Returning it w as easy, thank you for that. We are going to try a subscription product someone gave us for free, though w e don't like that it tracks w hat you w atch. A lifetime subscription is almost the same price as a new Channelmaster. Hope other people have better luck.
