AnyData modem ADU-510l installation under Linux operating systems

The tests were made on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) kernel 2.6.28-13-generic (latest). Other compatible distributions : all Debian based distributions other non-Debian distributions (SuSE,Fedora Core,Mandriva,etc) with kernel 2.2.6.28-11 or 2.6.28-13 Necessary installation files : (the files can be found in the atached folder Clicknet Mobile (Linux install)): Clicknet Mobile (application/x-shellscript) usb_modeswitch.conf usb-modeswitch_0.9.7_i386.deb (the only version compatible and functional!)

Installation steps :

Step 1.
First check the kernel in use running the command uname -r from the console.

If the kernel version is at least 2.2.6.28-11 or 2.6.28-13 proceed to the next step. Otherwise update to one of the two versions mentioned above.

Step 2.
Install usb-modeswitch_0.9.7_i386.deb package even if the default usb_modeswitch version is newer. For non-Debian distributions download the compatible package (e.g.. .rpm) from the internet .

Step 3.
After installing usb_modeswitch_0.9.7_i386.deb copy and replace the file usb_modeswitch.conf in /etc/ directory (Caution : all commands must be executed from the console with root privileges!) root@ubuntu:~# cp /home/user/Desktop/Clicknet Mobile (Linux install)/usb_modeswitch.conf /etc/

Step 4.
Plug the modem in the USB port, wait for both LEDs to turn on and execute the file Clicknet Mobile . root@ubuntu:~# /home/user/Desktop/Clicknet Mobile (Linux install)/clicknet If the installation was done successfully the message Mode switch was succesfull. Bye! will be displayed in the console window (see picture below) and the Clicknet Mobile drive icon will appear on the desktop.

Step 5.
Entering username / password / service number for the new connection:: The name of the initial connection will be Auto Mobile Broadband (CDMA) connection. Edit this connection and enter the username, password and service number (#777) .

Step 6.
To connect use GnomePPP, KPPP or can access the connection created above the taskbar (see image below):

At the end it should look like bellow:

Plug the modem in the USB port, wait for both LEDs to turn on and execute the file Clicknet Mobile . Create the connection and enter the username, password and service number Using a dialer (GnomePPP, KPPP, etc) or the network manager connect to the internet.
