THE INVITATION TO DISCIPLESHIP *THE HYMN OF COMMITMENT.................No. 463 Renew Your Church *THE BENEDICTION THE POSTLUDE.........................David Hughes "Prelude and Fugue in E Minor (the 'Cathedral')" Johann Sebastian Bach
Our Lenten series is entitled Dancing in the Darkness. The season of Lent is not marked by sadness, but by disciplined reflection on our lives all of our lives and how they are made new in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. So dancing in the darkness is about, on the one hand, recognizing the tough, sad, sometimes shameful, hurts, and all around bad parts of life. If we begin to name those, the joy we understand at Easter may begin to make sense. On the other hand, even the Sundays in Lent are mini-Easters. So they are in some way celebrations hence the dancing. Many times our pains and difficulties dont go away quickly or easily, but God joins us in our journey to help us find ways of dancing in the darkness.

All: Praise be to God! *THE HYMN OF PRAISE AND ADORATION.............................No. 180 Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days *THE INVOCATION AND LORDS PRAYER (In Unison) God of our ancestors and our God, too, down through the ages you have cared for your people. When they were held in bondage in Egypt you heard their cries and freed them from slavery. You sent your Son, Jesus, to live among us, to be crucified for us, and to be resurrected that we might share in his eternal life. Give us refuge and life this Lenten season that we may find ways to dance in the darkness and be prepared to receive joy in the light. We pray this in the name of Jesus who taught us to pray for your Kingdom saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. * THE KYRIE.........No. 300 Lord, have mercy upon us.
