Evolution 1. How might natural selection have influenced human choices and behaviors? Answer in paragraph form.

I think that natural selection would have influenced human choices and behaviors by prehistoric humans choosing women non-selectively. Prehistoric men and women werent as concerned about the outward appearance as far attraction but more of physical need and capability. Because life primitive, they males were more likely to mate with someone who showed qualities of health and being able to survive. The women were more likely to mate with men that showed qualities of being able to provide and protect.
2. What human characteristics might have changed because of this? Answer in paragraph form.

I think the ability to survive is one characteristic that probably changed because of this. If a prehistoric male mated with a female who was not capable of surviving, then more than likely their offspring would not survive. If a prehistoric female mated with a male who was capable of providing and protecting them then she would not be around long to produce offspring, or she could have been stolen by another male. Intelligence would have changes as well, two prehistoric female and males individuals that has good qualities, know how to survive and produce offspring were more intelligent than the ones who did not. As therefore as generation are produce, humans intelligence grew as well.
3. How do humans now shape their environment? Answer in paragraph form.

We have always been a product of the environment we live in. We modernization of society has shown us how the environment has changed since prehistoric times. Because human have became smarter since then, we were able to create tools that help build houses and building to change the way our homes look and how we build them. In prehistoric time, homes where build for dwelling and not for comfort ability and attraction. They were built with tools that were less precise therefore it lacked a lot of the necessary elements like indoor plumbing. Now that humans have evolved we are able to make and create things that are necessary for todays living and life.
4. Are humans now subjected to the same pressures of natural selection as other organisms? Answer in paragraph form.

No I dont think we as humans are faced with the same pressure as the prehistoric human was. Then it was necessary to mate with someone who had qualities of survival like a broader jaw bones to be able to chew hard food. If other organism dont have a good mate to survive and produce more offspring of the same kind then their kind may die off, but as humans there are so many of us that the pressure is not tense to find a mate of the same caliber in order for their traits and species to continue.
5. Define convergent evolution. List the page in your textbook as a reference.

Convergent evolution is described as the process whereby organisms not closely related (not monophyletic), independently evolve similar traits as a result of having to adapt to similar environments or ecological niches (Science Daily, 2010).

6.

Define divergent evolution. List the page in your text as a reference.

Divergent evolution is the process of two or more related species becoming more and more dissimilar. The "Evolution: Library: Adaptive Radiation: Darwins Finches" (2001)

7.

Define adaptive radiation. List the page in your text as a reference Adaptive radiation occurs when a variety of new formsincluding new related speciesadapts to

and fills a variety of ecological niches. (The "Evolution: Library: Adaptive Radiation: Darwins Finches" (2001)
8. Give an example of convergent evolution and explain how the example fits the definition.

A great example would be the tail of wild dogs and cats and monkeys. The tail helps to stabilize the balance of the dog or cat and with the monkey they use it as an extra limb to assist them in holding on to branches and helping them to live in trees.
9. Give an example of divergent evolution and explain how the example fits the definition. The vertebrate limb is an example, the limb in different varieties of species have the same origin, but has diverged somewhat in overall appearance and how they work. 10 & 11 were repeats of other question and I couldnt find the definition in the book so I use other sources, I hope this is okay.
