Face your problems

ife is a journey of aloneness. Alone one day you were incarnated into the body-mind-intellect realm. Also alone one day you have to leave the finite known realm.

Therefore listen to the enlightened one. Out of attachment to senses every one laments. And verily the known world that you have gathered around you as friends, family, husband, wife, children does not stay around forever. All connections and bondages severe the moment the string of attachment is severed. None then accompanies you along the lifes roads. Alone you have to traverse through each situation that life presents. Each one of you has to overcome your own hindrances that impede your path. Remember running away from these does not give you maturity. Instead you have to face these. Facing your problems helps you to understand the essence of life and your ability to respond to any situation. Passing through them with alertness, seeing the false in them you can one day reach the inner master. Indeed that is the only way. You cannot save others. You can only save yourself... That too if you can see the false as false in the context of your own life and learn to face each situation when it comes. Then you are on way to innerness.

Master Communes

wakened one communes to share all that they are. Indeed they want to share their being. Words can be communicated. However the being can only be shared through communing with the master. Spiritual Masters, Awakened Ones, the Enlightened Ones are the ones who have tasted truth. This is what they want to communicate to you. But truth cannot be brought to your level of understanding. In that truth gets defiled. In that case what they do is hold your hand and through the association take you to the abode or the level from where truth can be realized by you. Such is the way of the masters and nothing else. There are those who have tried much to convey their conviction or share their experiences through words but they all have failed in transmitting their actual feelings through the language. They have chosen the wrong way. Words communicates. And the energyfield creates communion. The communication of the master is not

communication instead it is communion. He uses the words to commune the wordless the inner silence that is part of his being. Words are the containers. Words have soul. And it is your awareness and the energy-field of the master that works mysteriously in the process of transformation. A flower has both form and the formless. Form dissolves. However its beauty continues to linger. Enlightened One exists both as a flower and the fragrance too. The flower still has shape, color and beauty. One day it will be no more. Also it can be destroyed. The flower and its form can be destroyed. But you cannot destroy Buddha or Buddhahood because he is the fragrance yet very subtle. Both form and the formless are embedded into the subtle. On the contrary man is still a growth. Until little sprouts of seed still remains vulnerable. the heart the ultimate kindled of love has attained to seed is the ultimate. And the flower the ultimate as The body ceases at the gross visible only to one who has seed at different stages of its awareness begin to take shape the Verily flower represents a man of flowering. One in whom the heart is inner flowering. This flowering of the moment the seed blossoms as happened. After this is beyondness. plane but its subtleness remains attained inner vision.

Remember Buddha or such an awakened one is beyond all forms, name or anything else tangible

Remember Buddha or such an awakened one is beyond all forms, name or anything else tangible. He is not a color, he cannot be destroyed. He is neither from the heart nor the mind instead he has transcended both. Mind is seed, heart is flower, being is fragrance. The seed is full of mind and its mindness, the flower is empty of ego, but feels its absence. Be this. Such is the destiny of each one of you. The Ultimate. And what is the fragrance. Indeed fragrance is one that has transcended both mind and heart and thus the void of the ego. He does not feel the absence of the ego because he has been fulfilled by love. Such is indeed the state of Beyondness the state after the seed attains to its flowering.

Be your own Master

e your own master. Invoke the inner master. The outer master cannot take you far along the inward path. He is still outside you. And all that is outside is like the unnecessary burden that you have to abandon if you want to reach the crescendo of your awareness. That alone the peak of consciousness is your inner master. The word is infinitesimal to express the essence. Yet there is no other way for the masters. On your own you cannot invoke the inner master. It is only the energy-field of the enlightened one helps in the process. This can happen only when you are vulnerable, open, and receptive to the energy-field of the master. Then it is as if sun has risen and the petals of the rose bud that were closed now begins to open. Remember master is truth and truth cannot be given. Master is light that is incandescent and as its rays reach your inner being the lotus begins to open. Along the path many will seek your blessings. And they forget that being born as human is blessing itself. However thousands will never understand this because mind is too strong in them. A few in the process will attain to their own light. Still they use a master as a substitute of their god, and religion. Also they beg, believe, and ask for readymade truth because their minds are still so conditioned. Verily a master points towards the inner master. Awakes the inner path of understanding.

Serve two cups of tea

ufis and Zen have the unique way of teaching all that cannot be taught or put into words. Sufi stories are called parables. And Zen stories are called Koans. Both parable and koan are the unique devise of the masters to bring about transformation. Remember this story. Meditate over this. Once a master told the disciple that he had to serve two cups of tea. The baffled disciple enquired why? But the master responded placidly meditate over it? But the disciple murmured. Two cups, even if he is alone. Indeed this is a koan. The disciple meditated over this whole night. With the dawn he thought he got the koan solved. He rushed to the masters hut. The disciple said one for me and the other to the beloved? And the master replied in negation. The disciple meditated over this for a few days again. One morning he returned to the masters hut when the master was sitting. The disciple murmured lowly can it be one for the disappearance of the illusion of the ego, and other for the disappearance of the feeling of its absence? Indeed it is so nodded the ecstatic master. Serve always two cups of tea even....if you are alone. Is it? Yes indeed it is so.Love Taoshobuddha!

Enlightenment the Ultimate and Beyond

an is seed. And the ultimate destiny of the seed is to blossom. Blossom as flower. It is not that after flowering the seed spreads its beauty and fragrance. The beauty and the fragrance is the outcome of blossoming. But the neither the seed nor the flower does anything consciously or unconsciously to spread its beauty and fragrance. It is natural and spontaneous. The moment the seed has attained to flowering it cannot contain its beauty and the fragrance. Fragrance and the beauty is the message of the flower. Wind carries this message far and wide. Only those who are ready, vulnerable will receive the message of the flower carried by the wind. Others will miss this flowering. This blossoming of the seed into a flower can be called enlightenment. The flower has blossomed. Attained its fruition. The ultimate has happened. What happens to the flower afterwards is an unconscious process. However what happens to the enlightened one after the ultimate has happened is totally conscious - the realm of Beyond Enlightenment. He is aware of this. The ultimate has happened. There is nowhere to go or do. There is nothing that he does not have. There is contentment. There is nothing in the three universe to be done, acquired, and attained. He is fulfilled. Beyond enlightenment there is ultimate dissolution disappearance of the body. But he continues to remain in the body because the work is not yet over. And there are those who follow him in myriad ways. To stay on this shore to help those who are on the path he creates anchors so that the boat can remain on this shore. His existence then is formless in form. Like enlightenment this too remains mystery beyond the dimension of the known. You cannot understand this through mind. Something of the beyond cannot be captured by the finite. You have to be it. Or at least you have to attain to enlightenment. Only then you will be able to get the glimpse of the realm Beyond Enlightenment. Beyond enlightenment is only beyondness. Enlightenment is the last host. Beyond it, all boundaries disappear, all experiences disappear. Experience comes to its utmost in enlightenment. It is the very peak of all that is beautiful, of all that is immortal, of all that is blissful yet it is an experience. Beyond enlightenment there is no experience at all. Then the experiencer has disappeared. Enlightenment is not only the peak of experience. Instead it is also the finest definition of your being. Beyond it there is only nothingness. And you will not come again to a point which has to be transcended. Just as flowering is the ultimate of seed. The seed disappears. And flower too disappears. And this process of flowering continues erelong.

Experience, the experiencer, enlightenment all have been left behind. You are part of the tremendous nothingness that is infinite. This is the nothingness out of which the whole existence emerged once. And also this is the nothingness in which all existence disappears. Science explains this phenomena through a parallel. Indeed something that happens in the existence is bound to have a parallel. Only we have to discover and then correlate the same to convey the meaning. The spiritual experience is of the inner realm, and science is the exploration of the exterior the outer realm of matter. Both inner and the outer are two realms of the same phenomena. Indeed both are wings of the same existence. They always have similar points. Scientists have come to a strange conclusion in this century. It was observed that a few stars suddenly disappear. And nobody knows where these stars suddenly disappear to. Remember stars are not small things. They are not as small as they look to you. They look small because of the distance. Some of them are so far away - millions of light years away, but they are huge. Our sun is a star too, but of a mediocre size, medium size. In comparison to the earth it is vast, but in comparison to other stars it is a small star. There are stars which are almost thousand times bigger than the sun. And in 19th-20th century, for the first time science had developed the instruments of observation that uncovered certain very puzzling results. It was observed that suddenly a star disappears, not even leaving behind a trace of where it has gone. Such a huge phenomenon, and not even a single footprint. This was a puzzle for the scientists. Nobody knew in what direction has it gone? It has just moved simply into nothingness. This was happening continually for millennium. It took almost twenty years to figure out this new phenomenon. Scientists, though these new equipment unraveled the mystery that in existence there are black holes. You cannot see them, but they have tremendous gravitational pull. Even the biggest star, if it comes within the radius of their magnetism, it will be pulled in. And once it is pulled into a black hole, it disappears. It is the ultimate death because the star leaves behind no trace. This is what is parallel to Nirvana the Ultimate Death after which there is no coming back on the same plane of consciousness. We can only see the effect of such happening. However we cannot see the black hole, we only see that one star is disappearing

8|Page

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

After the black hole was almost an established theory, scientists started thinking that there must be something like a white hole too. From where new stars suddenly emerge. Indeed there has to be. If it is possible that in a certain gravitational force, a big star simply disappears out of existence there must be something from where a new star suddenly emerges. Scientists have been aware that every day stars are born. However from where are they coming? Neither anyone knew nor has anyone ever asked it before. In fact, birth we always take for granted. Nobody ever asks from where the babies are coming. But death we never accept, because we are so much afraid of it because of attachments to life. There is not a single philosophy in the whole history of man which thinks about where the babies come from, but there are philosophies and theories about what is death, where people go on disappearing to, what happens after death etc. I have come across millions of people who ask such questions and continue their discourses on this matter. But and not a single person has asked what happens before birth while everyone is interested in what happens after death. I have always been thinking, why birth is taken for granted. And why is death not taken in the same way? Scientists were aware for centuries, almost three centuries, that stars are being born every day big stars but nobody ever raised the question, From where are these stars are suddenly emerging? But when the scientists became aware of the black holes and they saw the stars disappearing, then the second question became almost an absolute necessity. If black holes can take stars into nothingness, then there must be something like white holes from where stars suddenly emerge out of nothingness. I am reminded once Mulla Nasruddin had applied for a post on a ship. He was interviewed. The captain and the high officials of the ship were sitting in a room. Mulla entered. The captain asked, If the seas are in a turmoil, winds are strong, waves are huge and mountainous, what you are going to do to save the ship? The ship is being tossed from here to there because of this hurricane? Mulla Nasruddin aptly replied, It is not much of a problem: I will just drop a huge anchor to keep the ship stable against the hurricane. It is not much of a problem. The captain again enquired, Suppose another hurricane comes and the ship is going to be drowned; what are you going to do?
9|Page

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

Mulla confidently responded, Nothing another huge anchor. The captain looked at him and asked a third time, Suppose it is a great typhoon and it is impossible to save the ship. What are you going to do? Mulla again replied with certitude, Nothing, the same a huge anchor. The captain said, From where are you getting these huge anchors? Now Mulla eruditely responded, From the same place. From where are you getting these great, hurricanes? You go on getting them, I will go on getting bigger and bigger anchors. This says something. If there are holes in existence where things simply disappear into non-existence, then there must be holes from where things appear from nothingness and just a little imagination is needed. Scientists have not worked on it yet. Indeed a black hole is like one door of a tunnel. From one side it is a black door, a black hole from where stars are pulled into and thus disappear into nothingness. And from the other end of the tunnel another similar door, like a white hole; things are born again. It is the same womb. Indeed existence is a huge womb. From one end things disappear into nothingness and from the other end again things come into existence. Beyond enlightenment you enter into nothingness. Experience disappears, experiencer too disappears. Just pure nothingness remains there as utter silence. Indeed this is the destiny of every human being, sooner or later to reach the ultimate. We are not yet aware whether there is something like a white hole or not. However there must be. Having reached the ultimate flowering you enter beyond enlightenment the realm of nothingness, there must be a possibility of coming out of nothingness back into form, back into existence renewed, refreshed, and luminous yet

on a totally different plane. Because nothing is destroyed, things can only go into a dormant state; things can go only into deep sleep. Then in the morning they wake up again. This is how the existence goes on. In the West, this idea has never occurred in the two thousand years history of philosophy. They only think of this creation. And questions like Who created this? But they are lost into troubles because each answer is going to create more questions. The East has a conception of circles of existence and non-existence, just like day and night. Creation is followed by de-creation, everything goes into nothingness, just as day is followed by night and everything goes into darkness. And the period is going to be the same: as long as the creation is, so is the resting period going to be; and again there will be a creation of a higher order. And this process continues from eternity to eternity creation and dissolution. But each time the morning is more beautiful when it comes. Each dawn is more colorful, more alive, the birds are singing better, the flowers are bigger, with more fragrance. Look at the children. Now child is far more intelligent than its predecessor. And the East has a tremendous courage of accepting the idea that this will go on forever and forever. There has never been any beginning, and there will be no end. After enlightenment, you have to disappear. The world is left behind, the body is left behind, and the mind is left behind. Just your consciousness, as individuality, still remains. To go beyond enlightenment is to go beyond individuality and to become cosmic or existential. This way, each individual will go on moving into nothingness. And one day, the whole existence moves into nothingness and a great peace, a great night, a deep, dark womb, a great awaiting for the dawn. This is ultimate dissolution. And it has been happening always, and each time you are always born on a higher level of consciousness. Enlightenment is the ultimate goal of human beings. But those who are enlightened cannot remain static; they will have to move. They will have to change and evolve on higher rungs of enlightenment. And now they have only one thing to lose - themselves.

They have enjoyed everything. They have enjoyed the purity of individuality too. Verily therefore now they have to enjoy the disappearing of individuality. They have seen the beauty of individuality. And now they have to see the disappearance and its beauty too. And the silence that follows, that abysmal serenity that follows too they have to live. The process continues. Such a person has tasted truth. And as a result he is now a Spiritual Master, Awakened, and the Enlightened. This is what they want to communicate to you. Life Continuous Awareness

Life is celebration. Life is delight. Life is awareness. And awareness is you. Therefore life is continuous awareness with or without form. Indeed this is one of the most fundamental things to be remembered. For this you will have to be constantly aware. You cannot take it for granted that the suffering is over or the moments of joy. If you take it for granted that the suffering is over, the suffering will be back by the back door even with a greater force. You have to be constantly alert and aware. When you are not alert and awake then many things like jealousy, anger, hatred, passion will find congenial atmosphere to stay in you. It is true that for the moment there may be no jealousy, no passion, and yet so much lovingness. It is natural. When there is no passion and no jealousy, all the energies move into the direction of love. It is the same energy that becomes passion that becomes jealousy. When there is no jealousy, no passion, all the energy is available for the flowers of love to blossom. But never take it for granted. Also never think that the suffering is over for ever. Such moments are like oasis amidst the desert of unconsciousness. Life is a continuous evolution and you have to be constantly alert, otherwise you can fall back into the old patterns, and conditioning very easily. All these old patterns have persisted so long, they have become so ingrained in your

blood, bones, and even in your very marrow, that one moment of unconsciousness and you are back. You have to go on being aware each moment under each circumstance. Life is evolution. And each moment something beautiful happens and also much more is going to happen. One never knows how much more is possible. We are never aware of our potential unless it becomes the reality. You have gotten the glimpse of a beautiful space of non-jealous love. Passion on the contrary is a kind of fever and it consumes much energy. It drains you. Fever naturally consumes energy and passion is fever. When passion disappears, compassion arises. And compassion is cool. Passion is hot, it burns you. Compassion is cool not cold, remember. Hatred is cold, lust is hot. Exactly between the two is the golden mean, neither hot nor cold. Then you are in a state of cool warmth. Very paradoxical it seems cool warmth. It is not hot, but it is warm; it is not cold, but it is cool. And the real flower of love opens up only in that climate of warmthcoolness. A warm coolness is the right climate for the lotus of love to blossom. But you can never take it for granted. Never take anything for granted! Each moment you have to conquer it again and again. Life is a continuous conquest an expedition. It is not that once and for all it is settled and then you can fall asleep and stay unconscious and there is no worry left. Again you will be back in the same rut.

AND THE REAL FLOWER OF LOVE OPENS

UP ONLY IN THAT CLIMATE OF
WARMTH-COOLNESS.

IT IS NOT THAT ONCE AND
FOR ALL IT IS SETTLED AND THEN YOU CAN FALL ASLEEP AND STAY UNCONSCIOUS AND THERE IS NO WORRY LEFT. AGAIN YOU WILL BE BACK IN THE SAME RUT.

Be alert, be watchful. Never destroy this beautiful flower that is growing in you waiting to blossom. When you have something precious you have to be more aware. When you have nothing to lose you can be unconscious, you can fall asleep. Then there is no problem. But when you have something precious be more conscious, be more alert. Now you have discovered a treasure.

Master gives you the Ultimate Vision

A master never points the false. Instead he gives you the vision that you may differentiate between the two and weed out the false that impedes your way. Although he gives you the awakening but he never forces anything on you. He leaves everything for you decide. You just can see it in your own lives. Master acts as bridge but cannot save. Instead of him it is just you who can save yourself. To take people beyond situations, to point their inner master, to point the false is the way of the master. However it is only the disciple who can clean his mind, of preferences. Indeed it is only the disciple who can be awareness. And to be aware is not to be for or against something. Only seeing the context of life beyond the conditionings of mind, where truth happens. You can overcome hindrances. But clinging from the hand of the master you will never know freedom. Then you will remain stuck. Also you will create the illusion of protection. Remember truth happens into the context of life, and liberates when you see the false as false in your own life. Indeed truth liberates. When it is your own realization, in aloneness only then truth liberates. Relating to the world, and seeing the movements of truth within while you live is the way. The difference between a buddha and you, is that he has transcended ego and the absence of his ego as well.

Master leads you to maturity

The master cannot hold the hand always. He wants you to attain maturity. And for this aloneness is needed, insecurity is needed, anything is for or against us. For this you have walk the lonesome path. And you do not know where will this path may lead you to the precipice or the garden or open vast land of nothingness. When you begin to walk your path alone you grow into tremendous trust. You have heard in wilderness and existence never does anything wrong to anyone. Now this is your experience. And now it is your beacon light. You have to see ourselves, the movements within, while you relate. While you are alive live in aloneness and without protection, without any kind of security, and without any help from any quarter. People see the false as real, this feeds desire, and the mind. Cleaning mind and emotions, the part of the heart bridged with the being is your nature. And this is what you have to follow, but in those who have no master, but are ready it happens naturally. But always remember nothing happens before time. Existence waits until the time is right.

Awareness the Inner light

Awareness is inner light. Once this light is lit then your path gets incandescent. This inner light guides you through various vicissitudes of life. A man of awareness never hesitates in taking risks if that be necessary to save consciousness. He has found the shores of awareness. And then it will not matter how deep he may be in waters he has the shores of awareness in sight whenever it may be necessary. He may gamble, but only on the periphery. He may become a gambler but he is just acting. Within it was only a drama, he remains aware each moment and of each act. He may pretend that he was drinking alcohol but he never drink. As was done by Zunnaid. And one who in a pub is so aware to notice if you are drinking or not? Such is the situation of you so called religious one. Without the inner vision they go on making judgments from outer behaviors of others. So even if he was actually drinking water and just keeping a bottle of alcohol in front of him, would the drunkards have noticed it? And if they had noticed, would you say they were really drunkards? The prostitutes danced and all eyes were on the prostitutes, but his mind was somewhere else established in consciousness will he be then committing sin certainly not. Verily sin is when there is unconsciousness. Such is the man of awareness. He enters into the pool of the world only to save you. For him there is no risk in anything. He is like the lotus leaf that cannot be moistened by dew drop.

Host-ness is Awareness
Pain and pleasure are felt because you identify with these. The witnessing self is never felt. You always feel some identity and identification with pain too. However the witnessing consciousness is the reality. But this has not yet happened to you. So why does this happen? And how does this happen? You are in pain! You know not what is really happening inside? Analyze the whole phenomenon. The pain is there deep within. Not only pain is there instead the consciousness of pain too is there. These are the two points: the pain that is there, and the consciousness that the pain is there. But there is no gap between the two. The two overlap one another and somehow: You are in pain! Then suddenly a feeling happens I am in pain. And not only this - sooner or later begins. You start the feeling. I am the pain. However these are three may say, I am aware of the pain. then you transcend pain. The you are different from the pain, between the two. the awareness that I am the pain pain; I am in pain; I am aware of different, very different states. You This much can be allowed, because awareness transcends. In awareness and there is a deep separation

With awareness really, there can never be any relation. Remember all relation begins to appear only because of the nearness, because of the intimate nearness of your consciousness and all that happens around. Consciousness is so near when you are in pain. It is just there by the side, very near. It has to be; otherwise, the pain cannot be cured. It has to be just near to feel it, to know it, to be aware about it. But because of this nearness, you become identified, and one. This is a security measure, a natural security.

18 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

When there is pain you must be near. Remember when there is pain your consciousness must rush towards the pain to feel it, to do something about it. You are on the street and suddenly you feel a snake there - then your whole consciousness just becomes a jump. Not a single moment can be lost, not even in thinking what to do. There is no gap between being aware and the action. You must be very near. Only then this can happen. When your body is suffering pain, disease, or illness, you must be near otherwise, life cannot survive. If you are far off and the pain is not felt, then you will die. The pain must be felt immediately and there should be no gap. The message must be received immediately, and your consciousness must go to the spot to do something. That is why nearness is a necessity. But because of this necessity, the other phenomenon happens. You are so near that you become one and then you begin to feel. This is me - this pain, this pleasure. Because of nearness there is identification. And then suddenly you become anger, or love, or pain, or happiness. The Sutra says that there are two ways to disassociate yourself from such false identifications. You are not what you have been thinking, feeling, imagining, or projecting. What you are is simply the fact of being aware. Whatsoever happens, you remain just the awareness. Remember you are awareness that identity cannot be broken, that identity cannot be negated. All else can be negated and thrown however the awareness remains the ultimate substratum, the ultimate base. You cannot deny it, you cannot negate it, and you cannot disassociate yourself from it either. So this is the process: That which cannot be thrown, that which cannot be made separate from you, is you. And that which can be separated, you are not. The pain is there now, a moment before it was not there and also another moment later it may not be there but you will be definitely. Happiness has come, and it will go. It has been one day, and it will not be again one day but you will be. The body is young, then the body becomes old. All else comes and goes. Like guests different situations, states come and go but the host remains the same. Therefore the Zen mystics say: Do not be lost in the crowd of the guests. Remember your host-ness. That host-ness is awareness. That host-ness is the witnessing consciousness. What is the basic element that remains always the same in you? Only be that, and disidentify yourself from all that comes and goes and is ephemeral. But you become identified too much with the guest. Really the host is so occupied with the guest that he forgets.

Mulla Nasruddin has given a party for some friends and some strangers. The party is very boring, and half the night is just lost and it still continues. So one stranger, not knowing that Mulla is the host, says to him: I have never seen such a party, such nonsense. It seems never-ending, and I am so bored that I would like to leave. Mulla replied: You have said what I was going to say to you. I myself have never seen such a boring and nonsense party before, but I was not as courageous as you are. I was also thinking to leave it and just run away. Saying this they both run. Then, in the street Mulla has gone wrong, because now I please excuse me, I have to go In each one of you the host is lost, moment. The host is your pleasure follows. There is And each moment, whatsoever you become the guest and the host remembers and says: Something remember: I am the host! So back. the host is forgotten every witnessing self. Pain comes and happiness, and there is misery too. comes you are identified with it, is forgotten. guest is there, remember the host. guests: pleasurable, painful. while others you would not like to you would like to live with, and avoid. However one thing is Be centered in the host. Remain in

Pain and Pleasure

Both pain and pleasure are the two wings to float through life. Pain and pleasure are intrinsic parts of life. People are so much afraid of pain that they repress pain. Also they avoid any situation that brings pain, they go on dodging pain. And finally they stumble upon the fact that if you really want to avoid pain you will have to avoid pleasure too. Remember both pain and pleasure are two sides of the same coin. You cannot reject one and accept the other. Either you accept both or reject both. That is why your monks avoid pleasure they are afraid of pleasure. In fact they are simply avoiding all possibilities of pain. This is dualistic. Remember life as such is dualistic because it is seen through the window of the mind that is conditioned by dualities. The very essence of life is to transcend beyond the dualities. Such duality is like pair of opposites. In transcending you are neither rejecting nor accepting any of the two. Instead you acknowledge the presence of the two and continue you way. Mind knows that if you avoid pleasure then naturally great pain is not possible. Pain comes only as a shadow of pleasure. Then you walk on the plain ground you never move on the peaks and you never fall into the valleys. But then you are living dead and there is no aliveness in you. Life exists between these polarities. This tension between pain and pleasure makes you capable of creating great music. Music exists only in this tension. Destroy the polarity and you will be dull, stale, dusty and you would not have any meaning. Also you will never know what splendor is. You will have missed life. The man who wants to know life

and live life has to accept and embrace both birth and death. They come together, they are two aspects of a single phenomenon. That is why growth is painful. You have to go into all those pains that you have been avoiding so far. It hurts. You have to go through all those wounds that somehow you have managed not to look at. But the deeper you go into pain, the deeper is your capacity to go into pleasure. If you can go into pain to the uttermost limit, you will be able to touch heaven. To be free of pain the pain has to be accepted, inevitably and naturally. Pain is pain a simple painful fact. Suffering however is only and always the refusal of pain. Indeed suffering is the claim that life should not be painful. It is the rejection of a fact, the denial of life and of the nature of things. Death is the mind that minds dying. Where there is no fear of death, who is there to die? Man is unique among creatures in his knowledge of death and in his laughter. Wonderfully then, he can even make of death a new thing: he can die laughing full of joy and celebration. It is only man who knows laughter. No other animal laughs. It is only man who knows death; no other animal knows death animals simply die, they are not conscious of the phenomenon of death. Man is aware of two things which no animal is: one is laughter, another is death. Then a new synthesis is possible. And that synthesis is Enlightenment. It is only man who can die laughing. Verily he can join the consciousness of death and the capacity to laugh. And if you can die laughing, only then will you give a valid proof that you must have lived laughing. Know this as the essence of Enlightenment. How you have lived will be shown by your death, how you die. Can you die laughing? Then you were a grown-up person. If you die crying, weeping, clinging then you were a child. You were not grown-up, you were immature. If you die crying, weeping, clinging to life, that simply shows you have been avoiding death and you have been avoiding all pains, all kinds of pains. Growth implies facing the reality, encountering the fact, whatsoever it is. And let me repeat once again: Pain is simply pain; there is no suffering in it. Suffering comes from your desire that the pain should not be there, that there is something wrong in pain. Watch, witness, and you will be surprised. You have a headache: the pain is there but

22 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

suffering is not there. Suffering is a secondary phenomenon, pain is primary. Pain comes first and when you reject pain then suffering follows. The headache is there, the pain is there. It is simply a fact. There is no judgment about it. You do not call it good or bad, or give it any value; it is just a fact. The rose is a fact, so is the thorn. The day is a fact, so is the night. The head is a fact, so is the headache. You simply take note of it. Buddha taught his disciples that when you have a headache simply say twice Headache, headache. Take note. But do not evaluate, or say, Why? Why has this headache happened to me? It should not happen to me. The moment you say, It should not, you bring suffering in. Now suffering is created by you, not by the headache. Suffering is your antagonistic interpretation, suffering is your denial of the fact. And the moment you say, It should not be, you have started avoiding it, you have started turning yourself away from it. You would like to be occupied in something so that you can forget it. You turn the radio or you go to the club or you start reading or you go and start working in the garden you divert yourself, you distract yourself. In such a situation the pain has not been witnessed; you have simply distracted yourself. That pain will be absorbed by the system. Let this key be very deeply understood: If you can witness your headache without taking any antagonistic attitude, without avoiding it, without escaping from it; if you can just be there meditatively Headache, headache if you can just simply see it, the headache will go in its time. Certainly I am not saying that it will go miraculously, that just by your seeing it will go. It will go in its own time. But it will not be absorbed by your system, it will not poison your system. It will be there, you will take note of it, and it will be gone. It will be released. When you witness a certain thing in yourself it cannot enter into your system. It always enters when you avoid it, when you escape from it. When you become absent then it enters into your system. Only when you are absent can a pain become part of your being. If you are present your very presence prevents it from becoming part of your being. And if you can go on seeing your pains you will not be accumulating them. You have not been taught the right clue, so you go on avoiding. Then you accumulate so much pain, that you are afraid to face it, and accept it as well. Growth becomes painful it is because of wrong conditioning. Otherwise growth is not painful, growth is utterly pleasant.

Ignorance and Enlightenment

Let silence be the communion!

http://youtu.be/G2uuclF7tIk there. You are always in the midst of ignorance. You never know the beginning because there is no beginning. The end of ignorance is the beginning of Enlightenment. Ignorance has no beginning, but it ends. Enlightenment has a beginning, but it never ends. And both of these become one. They both are one. The beginning of enlightenment and the end of ignorance is a single point. Indeed it is a dangerous point with two faces or sides: one face looking toward beginning-less ignorance and the other face looking at the beginning of endless enlightenment the unfathomable enlightenment. So you reach enlightenment, but yet you never reach it. You come to it, you drop into it, you become one with it, but still vast unknown remains. And that is the beauty of it and the mystery of it too. If everything was known in enlightenment, there would be no mystery. If everything became known, then the whole thing would become ugly. Then there would be no mystery, everything would be dead.
24 | P a g e

Ignorance has no beginning, but it ends. Enlightenment has a beginning, but it never ends. And both of these become one. They both are one. One thing has to be remembered. Ignorance has no beginning, certainly it has an end. You cannot know from what point your ignorance begins. You always find it

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

So enlightenment is, not knowing in this sense. Also it is, not knowing as a suicide. Certainly it is, knowing in the sense that it is an opening into greater mysteries. Knowing then means that you have known the mystery you have become aware of the mystery. It is not that you have solved it. It is not there like a mathematical formula and everything is known. Rather, the knowing of enlightenment means that you have come to a point where the mystery has become ultimate. You have known that this is the ultimate mystery. You have known it as a mystery, now it has become so mysterious that you cannot hope to solve it. Now you drop all hope. But it is not despair or hopelessness. It is like understanding the nature of the mystery. The mystery is such that it is insoluble. And the very effort to solve it is absurd. The mystery is such that any effort to solve it through the intellect is meaningless. You have come to the limit of your thinking. Now there is no thinking at all. And where thinking comes to an end knowing begins. But this is something very different from the knowing of science and other disciplines. The very word science means knowing, but knowing in the sense of making a mystery demystified. Religious knowing means something quite the contrary. Religion is not demystifying reality. Now all that was known before becomes mysterious again, even ordinary things about which you were confident, that you knew. Now even that gate is lost. Everything, in a way, becomes gateless, endless and unsolvable. Knowing is participating in the exclusive mystery of existence. It is saying yes to the mystery of life. The intellect and its theory is not there now. You are face to face with it. It is an existential encounter not through the mind, but through you, the totality. Now you feel it from everywhere: from your body, from your eyes, from your hands, and from your heart. The total being comes in contact with the total mystery. This is just a beginning. And the end will never be, because the end would mean demystifying it. This is the beginning of enlightenment. There is no end to it but this is the beginning. You can conceive of the end of ignorance, but there will be no end to this enlightened state of mind. Now you have jumped into a bottomless abyss. You can conceive of it from so many points of view. If one comes to this state of mind through kundalini it will be an endless flowering. The one thousand petals of the Sahasrar do not mean exactly one thousand. The one thousand simply means the greatest number it is symbolic. This means that the petals of kundalini that are flowering are endless. They will go on opening without end. You will know the first opening, but the last will never be there because there is no limit to it. One can come to this point through kundalini or one can come to it through other ways.

Love is Consciousness
Love is consciousness. The love that you know and that I know are different. Indeed they have to be totally different. When I talk about love it has the fragrance of consciousness in it. Then love is the essence of consciousness. When you talk about love it has the darkness of unconsciousness in it. They are two worlds apart. I have to use the same words as you use. There is no other option. And for this nothing can be done. I have to use the same words. Not that I cannot coin my own words. If I coin my own words then you would not understand what I am saying at all. Right now at least you have the feel that you are understanding then even that will disappear, then I will look really a madman. Always remember, your words are being used in a totally different meaning. It is your awareness that gives meaning to the words that you use. When you uses the words these wafts your fragrance. And when a buddha uses the words
26 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

these manifests light and beauty. So whenever you are listening to a buddha, be alert of the fact. And never jump immediately on the words and or give them your color. It is a very mechanical habit. You hear the word love and immediately you know what I mean. Now you need not even listen, you can go into sleep, you can have a little sleep because I am talking about love and you know already what love is. This is what happens. The moment I start speaking you say I knowI knowI know what you mean. Then why do you want me to speak. If you already know then be pleased with it. The very fact that your life is barren implies that you know nothing of love. And the fact is that you know nothing of what love is. Your life does not prove that you know. If you know love you have known all that is worth knowing; then there is nothing left. If you have known love you have known God, you have known Buddhahood. You have known the essential body, the truth body. Love exists in these three bodies. The physical love you know, it is sex the infatuation of the body. It has no depth, it is as deep as the physical body. Indeed this is what you call love, and that is what you call falling in love. Yes, it is a fall. Then there is a second kind of love. Know this as the love of the bliss body. You know nothing about it. It is not a fall. It is a stillness, it is a rest. You do not fall. Instead you become rooted or grounded or established. You lose all wavering, all waves, and you become a silent pool. That is what should be meant by love. Understanding of love brings serenity, harmony and stillness. And then there is yet a third kind of love that comes from the essential body. That love should be called prayer. You rise in it, you never fall in it. The first love is a fall. The second love is a stabilizer, a grounding, a centering. And the third love is a rising into the sky it gives you wings. When I am talking about love I mean both the second and the third. Because for the third to happen the second will be needed. But I am not against the first, I am not against the physical love. Remember unless you fall many times you will not be able to be grounded. Hence I am all for it. Fall as many times as you can, so that you can learn how not to fall. Indeed that is the only way to learn. Certainly one learns through errors and mistakes. When a child starts

27 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

learning to walk, he falls many times. If the mother is very much against falling, the child will never be able to walk on his own, he will remain a cripple his whole life. As a grown up you have forgotten the secret of learning. You stop the process of growing. That is how millions of people have remained crippled as far as love is concerned. Because the society, the priests and the parents go on insisting that the physical love has something of sin in it. Therefore they insist to avoid it. Then of course you do not fall. But a man who cannot fall will not know how to stand without falling. A child that cannot afford to fall sometimes, will not be able to walk at all will remain crippled and he will have to use crutches. Marriage is a crutch. Cripples are using it all over the world. Because they cannot fall in love, so they settle for something synthetic and plastic. Fall as many times as you can, and enjoy falling, and learn the art of falling because only through that will you be able one day to learn how to stand on your own without falling. Out of the first love the second has to be found. And out of the second the third has to be found when you have started standing on your own, rooted deep in the earth, in the soil. This earth is beautiful. It is an opportunity, a great opportunity to experiment. Your being here is experimental you should experiment as much as possible. And you should not waste any opportunity to experiment. And each experiment will bring a little bit of wisdom to you. It comes the hard way. A man who tries to remain always secure, safe, will not learn anything, will not learn ever. People are trying to be safe so that they can remain always in security. Therefore they do not explore, or go beyond the boundary. And the boundary has been fixed by the priests and the politicians by the enemies, by the poisoners. Naturally your life has no flavor to it. It is placid, that has no blood, no bones, it is pale. You are like a candle dying. Your life is nothing but a long process of slow death. You never live. You have never understood the meaning of living. I am all for these three loves. Learn the ways of the first, the ways of the body. And then go beyond, because there is much more. Only by going beyond the first really you can reach the threshold of the second layer. Never remain confined to the first. It is a passage to reach to the second body, the bliss body. And yes, sometimes when you are
28 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

deeply in physical love, then too something of bliss trickles over you from the second body. While making love to a woman or a man, suddenly you feel ecstatic remember it is not coming from the woman, or the man, instead it is an overflow from the second body the bliss body. The woman has nothing to give to you, neither has the man anything to give to you. All that is possible between a man and woman is a kind of dissolving into each other. They forget themselves for a moment. Then self-consciousness disappears, the ego disappears, and that is all. Suddenly you get the glimpse of the second body. In that disappearance something from the second body, which is within you, starts flowing, because the ego is no more hindering it. Because you are so absorbed by the woman or by the man, that you have forgotten yourself, and you are in a kind of a state of intoxication. You are not a self in that moment, not an ego something trickles from the second body. That is why you feel blissful. And this blissfulness is known as sexual orgasm. It has nothing to do with sex, actually. Once you have understood the process of it you can have as much of it without having any sex. You can simply sit and sway and it starts happening. You can attain to that orgasm without searching for a woman or a man. But you have to learn through the man and through the woman in the first place. Indeed this is the reason to begin with man or a woman in a conjugal way. And once you have known this then sex becomes meaningless. However I am not against any conjugal relationship between the two. It is beautiful and it is good as far as it goes, but it does not take you far enough. You have to go beyond it. You have to find the real source of bliss, from where it comes. It does not come from the woman or man. Certainly it does not come from the other. Instead it comes from your innermost core. But the misconception is natural, because you are so absorbed in the woman or man that you think it is coming from the woman. And because the woman is so absorbed in you she thinks it is coming from her man. It is not coming from the other at all instead it is coming from your innermost core. But you are not conscious of that core. Be more and more conscious. While making love be conscious of from where the bliss is coming, from what

29 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

direction, and move into that direction. And lovemaking can become one of the greatest meditations. This is the whole approach of Tantra. And once you have learned how to reach to orgasm through your own bliss body, you are freed from the other I. Your dependence is no more there. And when you are no more dependent on the woman or on the man, your love becomes non-possessive. Only then, your love is no more political. You do not reduce the woman to a thing. Indeed freedom remains intact. In sex, freedom is lost. The more you go into sex, the more you become dependent on the other, because you think the source of joy is the other. Now you are afraid somebody may take the source of joy the woman may go away or the man may go away, or he may turn his back. Fear is there. And because of fear you start possessing, because of fear you become jealous. Sexual love cannot go beyond jealousy, jealousy is ingrained in it as its essential part. Once you know that bliss is coming from your own innerness, possessiveness disappears. Then you love but you do not demand, then you love and there are no conditions in it. And when you have become rooted in the second, and the falling and stumbling in love ceases. And you are coming closer to the essence of love. Once you have become established, rooted, and you have started enjoying your own bliss body, then one day you suddenly see something else, far more a blessing than bliss itself, is reaching you. Rays of something, which are more blissful than bliss itself, are reaching and surrounding you. And they are coming from your innermost, your very inner shrine. Then you start searching for those, and you start rising. The fall disappears and the tree starts growing towards the sky. And when you reach to the source of your being the essential body, the Buddha body, the truth body love is fulfilled. My word love has the ultimate meaning of that experience.

Creativity Explosion of your Innerness

Creativity is the explosion of your innerness. When there is complete discontinuity with the past and all that is known suddenly something explodes from deep within. Know this as creativity. Free from the known when your innerness attains to harmony and bliss creativity radiates like a beam of light and it surrounds you. Then creativity becomes the quality that you bring to the activity you are doing. It is an attitude, an inner approach how you look at things harmoniously and blissfully. Creativity has nothing to do with any activity in particular with painting, poetry, dancing, and singing. It has nothing to do with anything in particular. Anything can be creative once you bring that quality of harmony and blissfulness to the activity. Activity itself is neither creative nor uncreative. You can paint in an uncreative way. You can sing in an uncreative way or creative way. You can clean the floor in a creative way. You can cook in a creative way. It is your approach to any activity that reflects your inner state of harmony and bliss. So the first thing to be remembered never confine creativity to anything in particular. A man is creative and if he is creative, whatsoever he does, even if he walks, you can see in his walking there is creativity. Even if he sits silently and does nothing, even non-doing will be a creative act. Buddha sitting under the Bodhi Tree doing nothing is the greatest act if creativity the world has ever known. Once you understand it that it is you, the person, who is creative or uncreative then this problem disappears.

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

Remember everybody cannot be a painter and there is no need as well to be. If everybody is a painter the world will be very ugly and difficult to live. And not everybody can be a dancer, and there is no need. But everybody can be creative in a certain way expressing his or her innerness in whatever is being done. Therefore whatsoever you do, you do it joyfully, meditatively and lovingly, then it is creative. If you have something growing out of it within you, it is spiritual, it is creative, and it is divine. You become more divine as you become more creative. All the religions of the world have proclaim God as the Creator. I do not know subscribe to that however one thing I know and it is certain: the more creative you become, the godly you become. When your creativity comes to its crescendo, your whole life becomes creative, and you live in God. When your innerness explodes then anything you do becomes creative. Almost singing and dancing inside you engage in any act. You may be cleaning the floor, cooking, painting, writing poetry, dancing, singing or anything else with such love, you have done an invisible painting. You lived that moment in such delight that it has given you some inner growth. You cannot be the same after a creative act. You will be transformed. Creativity implies loving whatsoever you do enjoying, celebrating it, as a gift of existence! Maybe nobody comes to know about it. Who is going to praise Paras for cleaning this floor? History will not take any account of it; newspapers will not publish her name and pictures but that is irrelevant. She enjoyed it. The value is intrinsic. Very few people are accepted as creative: A few painters, a few poets one in a million. Every human being is a born creator. Watch children and you will observe the creativeness. All children are creative. By and by, we destroy their creativity. By and by, we force wrong beliefs on them. We distract them. By and by, we make them more and more economical and political and ambitious. When ambition enters, creativity disappears. Remember an ambitious man cannot be creative, he cannot love any activity for its own sake. While he is painting he is looking ahead thinking in terms of a Nobel Prize. When he is writing a novel, he is looking ahead. He is always in the future and a creative person is always in the present. We destroy creativity. Nobody is born uncreative, but we make ninety-nine percent of people uncreative. But just throwing the responsibility on the society or anyone else is not going to help you have to take your life in your own hands. You have to drop wrong conditionings hypnotic auto-suggestions that have been given to you in your

32 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

childhood. Drop them! Purify yourself of all conditionings, and suddenly you will see you are creative. Then you will know that to be and to be creative are synonymous. It is impossible to be and not to be creative. Anything creative enhances the beauty of the world. It adds something to the world, and never takes anything from it. A creative person comes into the world, enhances the beauty of the world a song here, a painting there that is all. He makes the world dance better, enjoy better, love better, and meditate better. When he leaves this world, he leaves a better world behind him. Nobody may know him or may know him that is not the point. But he leaves the world a better world, tremendously fulfilled because his life has been of some intrinsic value. Money, power, prestige, are all uncreative. They are not only uncreative, instead destructive activities. Beware of them! And if you beware of them you can become creative very easily. Certainly your creativity is going to give you power, prestige, money. Nothing like this can be promised. It may give you trouble. It may force you to live a life of abject poverty. However one thing is certain deep inside you will be the richest man possible. You will be fulfilled and there will be explosion of joy and celebration. Be creative. Do not be worried about what you are doing. One has to do many things, but do everything creatively, with devotion. Then your work becomes worship. Then whatsoever you do is a prayerfulness. And whatsoever you do is an offering at the altar. Jesus was not famous in his day. If there were no Bible, there would have been no record of him. The record belongs to his four disciples; nobody else has ever mentioned him, whether he existed or not. He was not famous. He was not successful. Can you think of a greater failure than Jesus? But, by and by, he became more and more significant; by and by, people recognized him. It takes time. The greater a person is, the more time it takes for people to recognize him because when a great person is born, there are no criteria to judge him, there are no maps to find him. He has to create his own values; by the time he has created the values, he is gone. It takes thousands of years for a creative person to be recognized, and then too it is not certain. There have been many creative people who have never been recognized. It is accidental for a creative person to be successful. For an uncreative, destructive person it is more certain.

Creativity communion with the unknown

Creativity is the art of communion with the unknown and unknowable. When there is explosion of innerness as bliss and harmony you learn the art of communing with the unknown and unknowable. Out of this communion is born creativity. It is said about a Zen master that he was able to pull very big rocks, remove very big rocks and he was a very fragile man. It was almost impossible looking at his physiology. Stronger men, very much stronger than him, were unable to pull those rocks, and he would simply pull them very easily. Once he was asked what his trick was. He replied, There is no trick I love the rock so the rock helps. First I say to her, Now my prestige is in your hands, and these people have come to watch. Now help me, cooperate with me. Then I simply hold the rock lovingly... and wait for the hint. When the rock gives me the hint it is a shudder, my whole spine starts vibrating when the rock gives me the hint that she is ready, then I move. You move against the rock, that is why so much energy is needed. I move with the rock, I flow with the rock. In fact, it is wrong to say that I remove it I am simply there. The rock removes itself. Another Zen master was a carpenter, and whenever he made tables, chairs, somehow they had some ineffable quality in them, a tremendous magnetism. He was asked, How do you make them? He replied, I do not make them. I simply go to the forest: the basic thing is to enquire of the forest, of trees, which tree is ready to become a chair.
34 | P a g e

Inner Sights A Journal of Meditation 2013

Now these things look absurd to you because you do not know the language of trees. For three days he would remain in the forest. He would sit under one tree, under another tree, and he would talk to trees and he was a madman! But a tree is to be judged by its fruit, and this master has also to be judged by his creation. A few of his chairs still survive in China they still carry a magnetism. You will just be simply attracted and you will not know what is pulling you. After a thousand years something tremendously beautiful. He said, I go and I say that I am in search of a tree who wants to become a chair. I ask the trees if they are willing; not only willing: cooperating with me, ready to go with me only then. Sometimes it happens that no tree is ready to become a chair; I come empty-handed. It happened once: The Emperor of China asked him to make him a stand for his books. And he went and after three days he said, Wait no tree is ready to come to the palace. After three months the Emperor again enquired. The carpenter said, I have been going continuously. I am persuading. Wait one tree seems to be leaning a little bit. Then he persuaded one tree. He said, The whole art is there, when the tree comes of its own accord. Then she is simply asking the help of the carpenter. If you are loving and you have experienced the explosion of bliss within you will see that the whole existence has individuality. Never pull and push things. Watch, communicate; take their help and much energy will be preserved. Everything is existence are creative, rocks are creative, tree are creative. You are man, the very culmination of this existence. You are at the top, you are conscious. Never think with wrong beliefs, and never be attached to wrong beliefs, that you are uncreative. Maybe your father said to you that you are uncreative, your colleagues said to you that you are uncreative. Maybe you were searching in wrong directions, in directions in which you are not creative, but there must be a direction in which you are creative. Seek and search and remain available, and go on groping unless you find it. Each one of you comes into this world with a specific destiny. He has something to fulfill, some message has to be delivered, and some work has to be completed. You are not here accidentally, you are here meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The whole intends to do something through you.

Meditate:
What happens to a thought when it is forgotten? Where does the forgotten thoughts go....? Thoughts are energy. And energy cannot be destroyed. The unconscious thoughts as these arise and even when these are forgotten create a dark aura around you. Eventually the aura becomes so opaque that light cannot penetrate through this and life continues barren. Be conscious of your thoughts. Allow these to emerge from deep within your inner harmony and bliss. Only then these will create an aura of bliss....When thought emerge from your inner harmony and bliss then these are dissolved immediately in the cosmic oneness and create a subtle energy field that helps in the transformation of human consciousness.... Like thoughts ocean waves too are formed by interactions with the moon, sun, and earth. The moon and earth are like magnets that attract. When the moon pulls on the Earth, the earth cannot hold on to the water because it is always moving, so the moons gravity pulls on the ocean tugging at the water causing it to sway and move. Thus waves are formed. There is yet another view in the formation of waves. Ordinary ocean waves, even the very large ones, are caused by the action of the winds on the ocean surfaces. They involve the movement of only the upper layers of water. When these waves come to shore across a long, gradually tapering floor, we observe surf because the upper layers of water moving toward land are interacting with the slower layers of water washing back out. Tsunamis are different altogether because they involve the movement of the entire water column from ocean floor to surface; that is why they involve such huge masses of water and energy.
