Dr. Edward Salmon Honored with Lewis Applegate Business Leader Award
a business leader who impacts the State by creating jobs and enhancing the environment. Dr. Salmon was recognized for his balanced approach to public policy and positive community involvement. Also honored at the event were New Jersey Assembly Speaker Shelia Oliver, Dennis Bone former President of Verizon New Jersey and Chairman of Choose NJ, Greg Lalevee of IUDE Local 825, and Caren Franzini of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Dr. Salmon has served as a coach, teacher, Mayor, County Freeholder, State Assemblyman and President of the NJ Board of Public Utilities.

Senator Sweeney also praised the New Jersey utilities for their hard work and dedication in the face of Sandy. He said utilities receive a lot of criticism during storms like this, but emphasized they were working hard to restore power. In regard to the election, he predicted the partisanship in Washington will subside after November 6th. The annual event is a unique opportunity to personally interact with our Senate President on the eve of an election. It has become a premiere event in the annual calendar of many individuals.

This exciting Union League event limited to 40 CEOs was founded by Dr. Salmon in 2005. Featured this year was Senate President Sweeney but also in attendance were Assembly Deputy Speaker John Burzichelli and State Senator James Beach. The attendees included top leaders in the corporate and labor worlds. Senate President Sweeney discussed the States recovery efforts in the face of Hurricane Sandy. He commented how the 100 year storm now occurs every year and the State needs to be prepared. He emphasized the State will learn from this storm and improve its infrastructure and procedures. We have worked very hard over the past months to ensure that we submitted a solid application that reflected the critical importance of this project to our City and the entire Island, said Mayor Ernie Triano. Municipalities Realize Big Savings Through Salmon Ventures & World Energy
Millville
On October 31, 2012, World Energy Solutions, Inc., an operator of online exchanges for energy and green commodities, successfully executed a reverse energy auction for the City of Millville that resulted in an annual savings of $76,645 in the municipalitys energy costs. In coordination with Salmon Ventures Limited, World Energy conducted an online auction soliciting for the lowest bid for electric supply from a number of energy providers. Thanks to the outcome of the auction, Millville will now be able reduce its energy costs by approximately 12.4 percent. World Energy created the auction bid specifications and advertising at no cost to the City.
Wildwood
In February 2012 the City of Wildwood entered into a contract with Reliant Energy Retail Services to provide electricity to all municipal electric accounts. The contract will save Wildwood taxpayers $239,086.56 over its three year term, representing a 16.17% savings over current rates. The City entered into a reverse energy auction conducted by World Energy, a state approved vendor, in coordination with Salmon Ventures Limited in which five energy suppliers bid to provide Wildwoods electricity. World Energy created the auction bid specifications and advertising at no cost to the City.
