Configure a password for console login to user mode. 2. Configure a secret password for privileged mode. STEPS: 1 2 3 4 5 Log in to the router in USER EXEC MODE Log in to the router in PRIVILEGED EXEC MODE Enter in a global configuration mode. Enter a host name of ALASKA for the router Configure the console password on the router and exit line mode MODE COMMAND ALASKA(config)# line console 0 ALASKA(config-line)# password cisco ALASKA(config-line)# login ALASKA(config-line)# exit Configure the password on the virtual terminal lines and exit line mode MODE COMMAND ALASKA(config)# line vty 0 4 ALASKA(config-line)# password cisco ALASKA(config-line)# login ALASKA(config-line)# exit Configure the enable password MODE COMMAND ALASKA(config)# enable password cisco ALASKA(config)# exit Return to user EXEC mode by entering the disable command Enter privileged EXEC mode again. This time, a prompt for a password will appear. Enter the password cisco, but you will not see the characters on the line. Return to configuration mode Configure the enable secret password MODE COMMAND ALASKA(config)# enable secret password ALASKA(config)# exit Return to user EXEC mode by entering the disable command Enter privileged EXEC mode again. This time, a prompt for a password will appear. Enter cisco, but you will not see the characters on the line. If it fails, keep trying until you see the %Bad screts message. Enter privileged EXEC mode again.

USING ROUTER SHOW COMMANDS Filename: LAB2A_surname.pkt TOPOLOGY: 2620 router connecting to a PC

OBJECTIVES: 1. Become familiar with the basic show commands 2. Retrieve the current running configuration from RAM using show running-config 3. View the back-up configuration file in NVRAM using show start-up-config 4. View the IOS file information using show flas and show version 5. View the current status of the router interfaces using show interfaces 6. View the status of any configured Layer 3 protocol using show protocol 7. Configure a serial interface on each of 2 routers so they can communicate STEPS: 1 Enter the help command by typing ? 2 Enter the show ? command. Remember the show subcommand and descriptions. Enter the show version command to know the following: - IOS software version - system image file - router IOS image booted from - type of processor (CPU) - how much RAM does this router have - how many interfaces - how many NVRAM have for backup configuration file is stored - how much Flash memory does - the configuraiton register set to 3 Enter the show clock command.
