It enables you to create an executable (program) from a TreePad (.tpd or .hjt) file. This single "exe-file" contains the TreePad database as well as the TreePad Viewer pr ogram. The advantage of an exe-eBook is that it can be distributed royalty-free as a si ngle file, since both data and viewer program are contained inside the program. Furthermore, a TreePad exe-eBook runs directly without installing anything! exeeBook creator can also compile password protected/encrypted TreePad files as exe -eBook. Additionally: exe-eBooks contain a search engine, an options screen, zoo m function 10% - 1000%, history back/forward, etc.An exe-eBook can contain plain text articles, formatted articles, images, tree node icons, hyperlinks. Note for TreePad X Enterprise users: First export a subtree to .tpd file (using Menu: Database/Export/Subtree), then convert the .tpd file to executable using exe-eBook Creator. ======================== Settings Generated eBook settings can be stored in an ini file as well as in the registry . Generated exe-eBooks can also load/store settings in an ini file (which needs to reside in the same directory as the exe-eBook itself). When an exe-eBook sees the file tpsettings.ini in its directory it will ignore the Windows registry an d use the ini file instead. To create an ini file, inside the generated exe-eBoo k open the options screen and enable ini file support in the category 'settings' . ========================

Language packs A language pack (.lng file) is an ASCII/TEXT-based file of around 100 Kb, and ca n be directly read by exe-eBooks, TreePad Viewer, PLUS, SAFE, Biz. To make a .ln g file available in the generated exe-eBooks's view/language menu, copy it into the program's directory, and restart the generated exe-eBook. To switch to a different user-interface language while the eBook runs, just clic k menu/view/language . It will change the user-interface language while the prog ram is running. Also, the next time the eBook starts, it will automatically load that language on startup. When the eBook user switches back to English, The eBook reads the file 'default. lng' to restore the English texts in the menus, buttons, etc. Please note that 'default.lng' needs to be present in the directory of the eBook. To download TreePad language packs (including the file default.lng) and for addi tional information on language packs, please see http://www.treepad.com/language _packs/ ======================== Distributing TreePad eBooks in a language of your choice A TreePad exe-eBook has an additional language feature: you can make it start in a certain language without the user having to select this language. This enable s you to distribute a TreePad eBook in a language of your choice. During startup, the eBook looks for the file 'startup.ini' in its program direct ory. If found, it reads the item 'startup_langfile' in the section section [LangSyste m], and will attempt to load that language file. Example of a startup.ini file loading the German language file: [LangSystem] startup_langfile='Deutsch.lng' Note that the startup.ini language file only contains two lines. ======================== exe-eBook Creator Command-line operation exe-eBook Creator can also start in 'auto-run mode' using command-line parameter s.
