NEW!! Best Fraternal Brother Donie (College Brothers competition - 21 and older)
2nd and 3rd place winners And the coveted
Registrants must be clean shaven on or after January 1, 2013. Would-be participants are invited to the Sportsmans Barber Shop, 310 State Street, Watertown, at noon on New Years Day to register and receive a free shave down. Although no real man would fake their beard growing abilities, a photograph of ones clean shaven self with a copy of a newspaper or news website dated on or after January 1, 2013 may be submitted as proof of clean shaveness. The Donegal beard, pronounced dun-e-GAUL, also known as a Lincoln or Lions Mane, follows the jaw line and covers the chin with no mustache or soul patch. Beards.org explains that the easiest way to grow a Donegal is to first grow a full beard with mustache. Then shave off the mustache, and trim down the cheek line to run just above the jaw line, creating a uniform strip of beard running from ear to ear. The King of Beards will be determined on the following criteria: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Length Fullness Texture, Color and Shine Style and Balance Whether its a true Donegal
Prizes will be handed out to the winners of each category. The King of Beards will receive an engraved Lincoln Bust, festival bragging rights and will lead the march of the beards in the festivals parade. To register for the shave off at the Sportsmans Barber Shop on January 1st please sign up on our facebook page at northcountry goesgreen irishfest and click on our events page. You can also email us at nnyirish@gmail.com with your name, date of birth, address and phone number. All info will be held in confidence and will not be used for any other purpose other than to contact you about the Donie contest. GOOD LUCK DONIE MEN!!
