HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Obadiah; Revelation 9 Monday, December 17 John 9:25 One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. Miraculous Master: I will never move the world if I let the world keep moving me. My influence on _________ will be greatly increased if I make my witness for Christ a personal one. What grace has done for me can be used to establish the faith of somebody else. I need to say, One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. Then, even those who hate the changes in me wont be able to help noticing them. They know I was blind, but now I see. They know I was not moral, but now I am virtuous. They know I mocked God, but now I fear him. That is the best answer to all the skeptics! We should be doing much better if, instead of writing books of argument, and entering into debates, we each keep on, in our sphere, endeavoring to convert souls, imploring the Spirit of God to come down upon us, and make us spiritual fathers and mothers in Israel. C.H. Spurgeon Oh, that ________ could see Jesus like I do since you gave me sight! Make me see a new beauty in Christ. Make me see a new loveliness in the gospel. Make me see an excellence in God my Father. If I have new eyes, do not let me use them to find a place to hide. I want to come out as boldly before others as this man did. You have given me grace in my heart, so give me courage to testify. Praise the Lord; I can see clearly now! Sin that was once my joy is now my shame. I come to church in a different spirit. My attitude toward trials has changed. My language is not what it was. I have watched my temper to curb my temper. My nature is different. You have re-engineered my personality according to the input of information from your Word! You have transformed my attitude, conforming me to Christs image. Now make me into a stronger witness. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Micah 4-7; Revelation 12 Thursday, December 20 Matt. 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Jonah; Revelation 10 Tuesday, December 18 John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Holy Father: Help me! I need to be careful to abide in Christ when I am being cut back, weeded, trimmed of wasteful growth, or pruned. You will remove every thing diseased, unproductive, or otherwise unwanted. But if I am not focused on abiding in you, I will not recognize the process of your providence. The drawback of a vine is its inherent lack of structural strength. I will only trust you to direct my growth and give me that strength if I am abiding in you. It seems like since I became a Christian I have had nothing but trouble. The Devil tempts me, people disrespect me, my family wont listen to me, and my job takes advantage of me. So what! The power of prayer lets me bring those cares to Christ and acknowledge the pruning process. Keep me abiding, even when it seems like the knife is snipping everything away. Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. I will endure and even endorse my trials. I will never dream of giving up my faith. I will not rebel because of anything I have to suffer. To whom shall I go but the Vinedresser? Only you have the words of life. Help me! I need to keep clinging after the pruning is carried out. Help me abide after cleansing in the same place I was before the cutting (John 15:3-4). I can watch the work of the Spirit in me. Let me not respond to the Devils temptation to boast now I am somebody and do not need any more pruning. Only if I abide am I any better than the wasted wood that is burned. My hope lies in you Lord, at my best times as well as my worst. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Nahum; Revelation 13 Friday, December 21 Psa. 10:12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble. LORD God and Heavenly Father: Your presence is our joy, but any suspicion of your absence is distracting beyond measure. Help us remember you are near today, just like the refiner is never far from the mouth of the oven when his gold is in the furnace. Let us see the Son of God walking up and down, in the midst of the flames with us. The wicked have proud boastings and perverted blessings. Proud hearts breed arrogant looks, stiff necks, and unbending knees. Save us from that Lord, because you are not blind to sin, much less forgetful of it. Give us a sense of your presence today so we can be careful not to wound others. Yet, what unbelief is mingled with our strongest confidence! Fearlessly we ask you to arise and lift your hand, yet timidly we beg you to forget not the humble. Psa. 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: Show your power and reveal your righteousness in all our circumstances right now. There is no hiding from your sight, nor flight from your justice. Befriend the oppressed today. Preserve us in time of need so we can rejoice in your goodness. You have prepared our hearts; we resign ourselves to your judgment, our mind to your enlightenment, and our will to your sovereign plan. You will order all things for the best and not disappoint us. We are sure to come out well if we carry our complaint to you, O King. Rights are vindicated and wrongs redressed at your throne. Your government never neglects the interests of the needy and never tolerates oppression by the mighty. You remember the poor in pity, and note the greed of those who are mighty. Great God, we leave ourselves in your hand. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Micah 1-3; Revelation11 Wednesday, December 19 1 Tim. 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Blessed God and Gracious Father: Thank you for this promise! If I give my whole mind and concentration to your worship, your word, and your work, then I will have success all can see. Whether or not I am promoted, I will be progressive. I repent of my hasty reading of your word. It is only by deep meditation that I really profit from your preceptsnot by doing a large amount of service in a sloppy way, but by giving my best thoughts to everything I attempt for you. Prov. 14:23 In all labour there is profit: But not in fuss and hurry without true spiritual energy. Not in striving, straining and struggle without true spirituality. When I divide myself between God and Mammon, or self and Christ, I cannot develop and grow. Help me give myself wholly to holy things. I dont want to be a day trader in heavenly business, going bankrupt in my soul. I want dividends from my spiritual stock, and a profit to be shown on my eternal investments. Do I minister for you in some aspect of our church? Let me minister whole-heartedly and not spin-out on secondary stuff. What have I to do with empty entertainment and wasting time? Help every Christian in our fellowship make the service of Jesus their real occupation, their lifes work, their one pursuit. Lets be all-in with Jesus so we can go all-out for Jesus. I want to profit in holiness and progress in grace, so both the church and the world can feel my impact. Give me the same forceful influence over others the Lord Jesus had in his life, because that is true spiritual leadership! Do this for his sake I ask. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Habakkuk; Revelation 14 Saturday, December 22 Psa. 9:1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvellous works. LORD, Father and Creator God: Sometimes it requires every bit of determination I have to face the foe and bless the Lord. Today I vow that whoever else may remain silent, I will praise your name! I am grateful to servants of yours who help me sing, but my thanksgiving has long wings, and mounts the sides of heaven up to you. Something Ive discovered is that gratitude for one blessing enables me to remember a dozen more. One silver link draws up a long chain of memories. Truly, there can be no end of telling the deeds of your love. Make daily rejoicing the ornament of my character. Psa. 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble Your presence and your praise is always sufficient for the defeat of my enemies. Their ruin is so complete that when you overtake them, even flight cannot save them. Make me careful, like David, to give you all the glory. In light of the past, my future is not doubtful. Obstacles will come to an end, but you and your throne will endure and complete your purpose forever. There! Psa. 9:11 Sing praises to the LORDdeclare among the people his doings. Make my spirit of praise contagious; I want to excite others to also praise you, Lord. In all the revivals of history there has been a sudden outburst of gospel songslike how the singing of birds always accompanies Spring. So have mercy on me, Lord. The ladder of prayer seems short sometimes, but I know it reaches all the way to heaven. In sickness, sin, despair and temptation, I have been minished and brought low. Underneath, put your everlasting arms and magnify my praise for Jesus name and glory. Amen.

ALL hail the power of Jesus Name! Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all. Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, and as they tune it, fall Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, who from His altar call; Extol the Stem of Jesses Rod, and crown Him Lord of all. Ye seed of Israels chosen race, ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all. Hail Him, ye heirs of Davids line, whom David Lord did call, The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all. Sinners, whose love can neer forget the wormwood and the gall, Go spread your trophies at His feet, and crown Him Lord of all. Let every tribe and every tongue before Him prostrate fall And shout in universal song the crownd Lord of all. O that, with yonder sacred throng, we at His feet may fall, Join in the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all, Join in the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all!

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
