Fill sensory table with shaving cream. Swirl watered down food coloring through it. Provide sticks etc for them to swirl. Have pieces of paper there so they can make marble art if they want to. Help them to lay paper on top of shaving cream, remove it and then scrape shaving cream off (leaving a marbled pattern) In each baggie that you want to make, add 5 tablespoons of cornstarch, 1/2 cup water, and a few drops of coloring. Mix ingredients well, until completely blended together. Add the oil. Seal the baggie, getting all of the air out of it. Place the baggie flat on a table and tape the edges down onto the table. As the children push the "write" on the bags, the mixture will change as it is used and then as you let it rest! You can make these with the children or make them in advance. Get a paper plate for each child. Fold in half and cut out shape to make heart (Example found here http://alphamom.com/familyfun/holidays/diy-holiday-hats-forevery-occasion/) Have each child decorate their own hat to wear for the rest of the day and take home. Have children paint their entire paper (cut out in a heart) with vinegar. Then have them cover it with tissue paper. After the vinegar has dried have children peel of the hearts to reveal stamps made by the paper all over their heart. Give each child the metal top of a juice can (great because they dont have sharp edges). Put Elmers glue into the top of the lid. Give children small craft supplies (beads, sequins, confetti, glitter, etc.) to press into the glue. Once dried add a magnet to the back.

Kiss Krispies

Have them give to their mom or dad as a valentine to stick on the fridge! Cover table with a waterproof tablecloth or shower curtain. Children color the hearts with markers. They spray them with the spray bottles and watch the colors run together! Have MANY hearts available as many of your children will want to make a lot of these! Encourage them to color with just red and blue so they can see the shade of purple that they make. Experiment with other colors as well! VARIATION: Instead of spray bottles, provide the children with eye droppers and small cups of water to drop water where they want. Great fine motor skill practice! *These dry very quickly. Have children help you make rice krispie treats: 3 tb butter or margarine 4 cups miniature marshmallows 6 cups rice krispies Melt butter over low, add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat and add cereal. Stir until well coated. Let cool for a few minutes. Give each child a funnel and help them to pack the rice krispie treat mixture into the mold made from the funnel. Let finish cooling. Wrap in foil with paper sticking out the top like a tag. Makes a large take home kiss for their valentine! http://media-cachelt0.pinterest.com/upload/12687491447 2133972_o5IcHZsH.jpg Hide these hearts throughout the room or area you will be playing this (outside is fun as well!). Tell the children they need to find all the hearts. You can also have them try to find all the hearts before a certain song ends. PLAY MUSIC AND DANCE! Have the children dance around the room as the music plays. When the music stops, they have to find a heart and stand on it!
