KEYNOTE PRESENTERS Dwayne Edwards: Butte College A.S.

Cultural Affairs Director Within the field of sustainability, all too often people have a tendency to thin k straight to environmentalism without considering the equal importance that social institutions, the economy, and cult ure have to play in the transformation to a sustainable world. Dwayne lives to resolve that myth. Caleen Sisk: Chief and Spiritual Leader of the Winnemem Wintu Tribe The Winnemum Wintu are the Indigenous People of the McCloud River south of Mt. S hasta, California. Caleen is an internationally known speaker on traditional tribal and spiritual issues, having spoken on diverse topics such as spiritual medicine ways, the spirit of water, global climate change, sacred sites protecti on, and the responsibility of tribal people to honor their tribal life way. Anne Symens-Bucher & Adelaja Simon: The Work that Reconnects Anne is a facilitator of the Work that Reconnects based on the work of Joanna Macy . She has traveled extensively with Macy, participated in dozens of Macy s workshops and currently serves as her personal assistant. Anne has been involved in work for justice, peace, nuclear disarmament, nonviolence, and ecolo gical sustainability for more than 35 years. Prior to her work with Joanna Macy, she worked for 25 years as the Co-Dir ector of the St. Barbara Province Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation Office. Anne also co-founded the Canticle Farm community in East Oakland. Adelaja Simon stopped cooperating with business school to become a permaculturis t. He lives in the Canticle Farm community in East Oakland, where he knows, grows, and loves local food and is an extraordinary singer and vegan cook. Adelaja focuses his activism in human rights, environmental regeneration, restorative justice, peace-building, urban agriculture, and a vibrant gift economy. Adelaja also studies with Joanna Macy and now facilitates her work. Daniel Dancer: Art For the Sky Art activist, film-maker and author, Daniel Dancer will create 70+ foot tall pic ture of a fractal snowflake made out of 300 student leaders (you) on Saturday. These enchanting creations are a w hole-body way of stimulating our imagination to see the elusive big picture and help us understand our interconnect ion with one another and all life. With hundreds of people at a time collaborating in the creation of somethi ng beautiful, each living painting is a blessing and a promise to better care for our world and one another. Kirsten Schwind: BayLocalize Kirsten Schwind, is Co-founder and Program Director of Bay Localize, a nonprofit building an equitable and resilience Bay Area. Kirsten is deeply involved in local energy policy and co-founded the L ocal Clean Energy Alliance, the Bay

Area s largest clean energy advocacy alliance. Kirsten also worked for several yea rs in Latin America in human rights and the environment, and is fluent in Spanish. Kirsten s presentation will discuss way s to Map Your Future: Linking Youth With Jobs Building Community Resilience. Victor Menotti: International Forum on Globalization Author Victor Menotti is the Executive Director of the International Forum on Gl obalization, a North-South research and educational institution composed of leading activists, economists, scholars, and researchers providing analysis and critiques on the cultural, social, political, and environmental impacts of econo mic globalization. Menotti has written and spoken extensively about the impact of globalization on ecosystems around th e world, and has helped to build international networks among traditional farming forest, fishing, and indigenous communities whose survival depends on these ecosystems. He will be discussing How Hurricane Sandy was Strengthened by Billionaires Blocking Carbon Controls, from his most recent research on the influence the Koch Brothers exert on the political system and climate policy. He is on his way to participate in the U.N. World Climate Summit in Doha , Qatar in a few weeks.
