HANDLING OF RADIO COMMUNICATION FAILURE

General the Pilot in command(PIC) who has the problem with communica tion failure should be: a. Maintain terrain clearance throughout all procedures. b. Switch transponder to code 7600.

c. Try alternate then secondary published ATS frequencies for the sector or unit you should be in communication with. d. Check aircraft communications equipment. e. Listen to ATIS (or FISB) if possible. f. Transmit position reports and intentions, assuming the aircraft transmitter is operating, and prefixing all transmissions with TRANSMITTING BLIND. g. Turn on landing lights, beacons, and strobe lighting. h. If a mobile phone is available in the aircraft, attempt to establish telephone communications

Procedure comunication failure for Visual Flight Rule(VFR): a. Not enter controlled airspace, including control zones, unless complying with: A clearance already received and acknowledged Published COM failure procedures for that aerodrome.

b. Divert to an unattended aerodrome and report arrival to ATS as soon as possible c. If unable to divert to an unattended aerodrome: Continue to operate transponder on code 7600 Enter the control zone via a published arrival procedure Approach the aerodrome side-on to the main runway or runway-in-use, and carry out a standard overhead circuit joining procedure; and Contact ATS as soon as possible after landing.

d. If an emergency condition exists switch transponder to emergency code 7700.

Procedure comunication failure for Instrument Flight Rule : Visual Meteorological Condition: 1. Continue to fly in visual meteorological conditions; 2. Land at the nearest suitable aerodrome; and 3. Report the arrival by the most expeditious means to the appropriate air traffic control unit

Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) a. Non Radar environment Unless otherwise prescribed on the basis of a regional air navigation agreement, in airspace where procedural separation is being applied, maintain the last assigned speed and level, or minimum flight altitude if higher, for a period of 20 minutes following the aircrafts failure to report its position over a compulsory reporting point and thereafter adjust level and speed in accordance with the filed flight plan

b. Radar environment In airspace where an ATS surveillance system is used in the provision of air traffic control, maintain the last assigned speed and level, or minimum flight altitude if higher, for a period of 7 minutes following: The time the last assigned level or minimum flight altitude is reached; or

Time the transponder is set to Code 7600 or the ADS-B transmitter is set to indicate the loss of air-ground communications; or

The aircrafts failure to report its position over a compulsory reporting point; whichever is later and thereafter adjust level and speed in accordance with the filed flight plan;

When being vectored or having been directed by ATC to proceed offset using RNAV without a specified limit, proceed in the most direct manner possible to rejoin the current flight plan route no later than the next significant point, taking into consideration the applicable minimum flight altitude; Proceed according to the current flight plan route to the appropriate designated navigation aid or fix serving the destination aerodrome and, when required to ensure compliance with, hold over this aid or fix until commencement of descent; Commence descent from the navigation aid or fix specified at, or as close as possible to, the expected approach time last received and acknowledged; or, if no expected approach time has been received and acknowledged, at, or as close as possible to, the estimated time of arrival resulting from the current flight plan;

Complete a normal instrument approach procedure as specified for the designated navigation aid or fix; and Land, if possible, within 30 minutes after the estimated time of arrival specified in /or the last acknowledged expected approach time, whichever is later.

RESUME OF HANDLING RADIO COMMUNICATION FAILURE (AS CONTROLLER)

RX-Fail (cant hear) On the Air (for landing) On the Ground (for take off) Instructed by ATC Not yet Instructed 1. In vicinity, aircraft Forbidden for 1. Aircraft just report position departure proceed to and request. Overhead, see the landing T 2. If the a/c have been identified with RX2. Then the fail, ATC give aircraft join instruction to RXfail aircraft with circuit pattern flashing light and and broadcast the other aircraft his position must avoid the RXfail a/c.

TX-Fail (cant speak) On the Air (for landing) Instructed by ATC Not yet Instructed 1. Follow the instruction given by 1. Aircraft ATC proceed to Overhead, see 2. In Vicinity, ATC do Radio the landing T Check Procedure for 2 times: a/c, this is SHE TWR radio 2. Then aircraft check on 118.3 1,2,3,4,5 how do join circuit you read me? pattern 3. If the aircraft have been identified and understand do the acknowledgement : a. Position on downwind: if you read me, acknowledge by rocking your wing b. Position on baseleg/final: if you read me, acknowledge by flashing your landing light 4. After landed, ATC give instruction to: a. Follow follow me car, or b. Taxi tovia if you read me acknowledge by rocking your rudder

On the Ground (for take off) Forbidden for departure

Total Fail On the (for landing) Instructed by ATC Not Instructed 1. Follow the instruction given by ATC 2. In Vicinity, aircraft silent, so ATC do Radio Check Procedure for 2 times: a/c, this is SHE TWR radio check on 118.3 1,2,3,4,5 how do you read me? 3. If the aircraft have been identified, ATC give instruction by flashing light and the acknowledgement by flashing landing light or rocking your wing./rudder 4. After landed, ATC give instruction to: Follow follow me car. 1. Aircraft proceed to Overhead, see the landing T 2. Then aircraft join circuit pattern

On the Ground (for take off) Forbidden for departure

3. After landed, ATC prepare for aircraft request for example follow me car.
