Final Draft due: November 25, by 11:59p.m., in the appropriate D2L dropbox Quick Reference Guide Word count: 1800-2400 words Stance: your choice Topic: college sport scandal and how the NCAA reacted Format: MLA format Audience: me Images: two, if appropriate to your stance and audience

Objective (s) As we have talked about this semester, one reason people grow weary of college sports is because of what seems like an increased level of scandals. Unfortunately, when college sports are detailed in major media outlets (sports-focused outlets, excluded) the focus is, more often than not, on negative story lines. Additionally, when college sports are in the news for the wrong reasons, the NCAA is often right in the picture, either handing out crippling sanctions or acting mysteriously disinterested. Either way, the NCAA grabs a lot of attention when these scandals occur. For this paper, you will decide upon and research a college scandal. After gathering a wealth of information from a variety of sources, focus attention on how the NCAA responded to the scandal. And thenand this part will form the main thrust of your essaycritique the NCAAs reaction: too much, too little? Why? Like the previous paper, I am asking you to take more initiative in finding a topic and reaching an argument regarding this topic. Evaluating When evaluating your essay, I will for you to do the following: Construct a clearly articulated main thesis Point to specific words or passages in the readings on D2L or any outside sources you located.

Finally, this paper asks that you show an awareness of the NCAAs judicial process. It would be worth your time to look hard at their website (especially the section on rules compliance), how they ruled over previous scandals (i.e., precedents), and even histories of the NCAA. Good luck! Im happy to help if you need some additional assistance at any stage of this paper. My office hours are Tuesday 10:30am-12pm and by appointment.
