Many modern business operations now depend on co-operation and flexibility, and women are better at those skills than men. So it may well be that in the future, quite a lot of important business will be run by women, and it will be the men who earn lower wages or stay at home.

Esta questo foi bastante controversa no certame dos Correios. Primeiro vamos explorar o motivo de tantos candidatos terem reclamado do gabarito oficial. Vejamos o significado dos verbos TO HOPE e TO EXPECT: TO HOPE:

Apesar dos verbos terem significados bastante prximos, h uma sutil diferena entre eles. TO HOPE significa esperar no sentido de ter esperana em algo. Esta esperana pode ou no se concretizar. J o verbo TO EXPECT consiste em uma espera com um grau mais elevado de certeza de que o que se espera ir se concretizar. Foi essa diferena de sentido to discreta que a banca levou em conta para dar o gabarito como errado.

Alguns esto indecisos (uncertain). Outros esperam (hope) que o problema desaparea (go away).

That sort of bromide fit well enough with the principles that had long been at far the core of Chinese foreign policy: a preference for steering clear of far-flung policy: entanglements in order better to focus on growth and development at home; and a reluctance to endorse any country interfering in the internal affairs lest Chinas. of anotherlest anyone think about interfering in China China had just joined the World Trade Organisation two months earlier, and was already on its way to a new and increasingly prominent role in the international community. The government had to evacuate more than 35,000 from Libya when that country slipped into turmoil last year. Together with Chinas new and extensive involvement with the rest of the world comes a desire to exercise a greater degree of soft power, including the stronger assertion of Chinese interests in multilateral bodies. But there also comes the need to weigh in on issues that, in the past, China would have been able to keep comfortably at arms length. The controversy over Irans nuclear programme is a case in point. Countries including America, Israel and Saudi Arabia are urging China to adopt their hard line on Iran, which would be to the detriment of its considerable energy and commercial interests there. China is feeling similar pressure to take a firm stand on the increasingly chaotic situation in Syria. It is another sticky foreign-policy problem of the sort that China used to be able to sidestep. It no longer can, it seems, no matter how far away the trouble is.
