FORWARD JOB DESCRIPTION (FJD)/JOB SPECIFICATION Main purpose of job: To assist the UK businesses in the Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Education & Skills, Healthcare sectors to increase their competitiveness in the Indian market, and to help Indian companies setting up in the UK. To work closely with other departments of the British High Commission team to deepen the UKs relationship with the state of Andhra Pradesh. Breakdown of main duties and responsibilities, and the percentage of time they occupy: Type of work Delivering results Duties & responsibilities Support the Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology, Education & Skills, Healthcare lead officers for India in planning, monitoring, executing, and reporting the sector related work in Andhra Pradesh; Proactively identify new business opportunities for British Companies and support them through appropriate introductions in the state of Andhra of Pradesh; Answer business companies; enquiries from Indian and UK % of time 70%

Contribute to market research reports commissioned by UK companies. This will mainly involve information gathering through primary and secondary marketing research techniques, and report writing, in a standard format to high quality standards

UNCLASSIFIED Communicating Influencing & Be an effective networker by visiting key clients in the Education & Skills, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology sectors in Andhra Pradesh, take action, report to the wider team and record on the IT system within the agreed time scale. Be a self- starter and be able to work on his/her own initiative and be able to quickly build up and use a broad selection of key contacts. Keep track of business trends (newspapers, websites and periodicals) on a regular basis, identify business and partnership opportunities, and report with potential outcomes/actions in an agreed time scale. Timely recording of client interactions on the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and providing inputs for Management Information Returns (MIR). Support the Education & Skills, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology sector and wider BDHC Hyderabad teams to deliver against business plan objectives including contributing to/organising trade missions, seminars, trade and investment promotion events, outreach events, internal team meetings and official and ministerial visits.

Line Managers and Incumbents: The Trade & Investment Adviser will mainly work on Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and Education & Skills Sectors and support the various Sector Leads in business plan activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day planning, organising, and reporting of activities related to the various sectors for the state of Andhra Pradesh. A part of his/her work will go to provide administrative and other support to various sectors and Hyderabad post. Over a period of 6-8 months, the candidate will be required to lead on the Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology and Education sector related activities for Andhra Pradesh. The potential to learn and grow in this job is good. The successful candidate will have opportunity to acquire more sector knowledge, and professional skills in marketing research, consulting and event management. The job will provide exposure to the senior management contacts in leading Indian and UK companies. The successful candidate must:

be a team player, with excellent self management and interpersonal skills; be able to take responsibility and deliver results, to a high standard, under pressure; have a strong customer focus; be fluent in written and spoken business English; be confident in dealing on the phone and face to face with senior Indian and British business persons; have strong analytical researching and report writing skills, be able to think critically, and solve problems; possess excellent administrative skills; and have good working knowledge of Windows based systems and MS Office applications and be capable of making effective use of office IT systems, including internet searches.

6. Starting Salary: For BHC candidates, the LE BHC Terms & Conditions will apply. For other than BHC candidates, salary scale is Rs 35,705/- to - Rs 58,252/- per month together with a benefits package (which includes 12% provident fund and 6% special allowance/Superannuation Fund). The successful candidate will be provided with 25 days annual leave and in addition study, maternity/paternity and special leave as per the Terms & Conditions of Service. The package also entitles the incumbent to be a member of a medical benefits scheme that will include medical expenses and hospitalisation cover for self, partner and children. 7.
