Four Iowa High Schools Capture the Bank Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup and $1,750 for Academic Enhancement
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (October 2, 2012) Bank Iowa is pleased to announce the four winning Iowa High Schools in the Bank Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup, an honor that comes with a prestigious crystal award and $1,750. The winning schools are Iowa City West High School (4A), Decorah High School (3A), Kuemper Catholic High School, Carroll (2A) and Saint Albert Catholic High School, Council Bluffs (1A). Introduced in 2007, the Bank Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup has become a highly coveted award, recognizing Iowa high school students for academic excellence and outstanding achievement during state competitions on the field and on stage. Winning schools in each of the states four classifications (1A, 2A, 3A and 4A) with the best combined score for academics, athletics, music, speech and debate receive a crystal award and $1,750 to be used for academic enhancement. Each of the winning schools from the 2011-12 school year has won the award previously. Decorah is a fourth year champion. This is Iowa City Wests and Saint Alberts third time winning the award, and its the second time for Kuemper Catholic.
