The effects of using Games and Song to students in learning English.

Teaching and learning process are the activities that can not be separated from students as the learnes and teachers as the instructur. That are many strategies that must be used by a teacher in order English to his or her students in the classroom. One of the strategies that is seldom to be used by a teacher is how to use games and song when they teach english to their students in the class room. Typically games and song very useful to be used when an english teacher teaches their students especially for elementary students, yunior high school students until senior high school students. Why games and songs must be used by an english teachers when teaches their students in their classroom? Games and song also categorized into a subject which contains some benefits. The main aim that wants to be underlined by the writer is games and song gives stude nts motivation to follow the lesson that is taught by us. If we teach english in the classroom without giving aditional some aditional activities like playing games and singing the song will make students lazy to follow our class. In other words we can say that students will have low motivation to follow english class. In teachins students teachers just give introduction about the materials that will be taught, whereas students must learn the materials by themselves. Strategy that is used in teaching students are not eazy, so in this writing the writer try to give one of the strategies that is suitable to be used, that is called playing games and song. Playing games and songs not only entertain the students but it also gives motivation to students to follow the lesson because it has many functions. Kari Spielvolge : 2005, explained that the basic concepts for early school succesfull is giving them games and songs. It makes them more enjoy to follow the lesson because it standarized with their old

There are many aims of using games and song in teaching english to students, but in reality there are many English teachers using their own method to teach their students and it makes students confuse to learn English. It happens because they do not have ability to control their class, and they they do not have ability to use gameg and song to teach their students. The aims of teaching games and song such as, (a) to add students motivation in learning English, (b) to add students vocabularies, (c) to teach students how to work together in order to find the main idea, (d) to teach students how to think fast, (e) to teach students how to pronounce the words, (f) to teach students how to write the words correctly, (g) to teach students how to read the words, (h) to teach students how to listen the words that are spoken. In performing games and songs students have to speak english. It is started from giving instruction until how to play the games. English is not a first language for students whereas it is a second language for them so learning english is not eazy for them, so they still need some instruction that really entertain and help them to learn english without finding some difficulties. Playing games and song can give motivation to students to learn english because it can entertain them to follow the lesson..In performing games and song students have to use English language. By the way , it gives more vocabularies to students, They can memorize the words that are spoken by their friends or they can learn vocabularies from their experience in using the words. The context of work together means by the writer in this part is, playing games and song can be done by students in the group or it can be done individually. The type of game that need group to be performed needs togetherness in playing. The games that are given usually have relation with how to speak the words that are used in playing the games. Speaking related to how to pronounce the words by students. Speaking is one of the specific skills in English. By playing games and song the writer really

students can learn how to speak well. If we want to teach students speaking as a subject in yunior high school like in a university, the writer think that students will lazy to follow our class, so giving games and song will be an alternative. Beside the funtions that are explained above, giving games and song also also teach students how to think fast. Why it teaches students how to think fast? In some games need students to think fast. It happens because the duration of time that is given is too short so they have use their memory to think fast about the games that are given. Playing games and song in the classroom can teach students how to write the words into right order. There are some games and song which need students to write the words in fronth of the class. Students can learn how to write well if they are given chance to write the words when play the games and songs. Reading is one of the specific skills in english. Playing games and song also teach students how to read well, because beside write the words in fronth of the class students have read it. Students will learn how to read from their friend which play the game and also from their teaching. The last funtion of playing games and song in the classroom is to teach students how to listen english words that are spoken when they play the game.

Using games and song is one of the strategies that can be used in order to make students eazy to learn English. Not only it but also, it entertains students in following the subject, so can increase students motivation to follow the lesson. It has some spesific sunction such as, increase students motivation, enrich students vocabularies, to teach students how to work together, to teach students how to prnounce the words, to teach students how to think fast, to teach students how to read and write well, etc.
