reverse Kitchener Stitch

Reverse Kitchener stitch joins together live stitches with a purl effect by using
the tapestry needle opposite of the way you would for regular Kitchener stitch.
To begin, insert the needle knitwise through the front right stitch, then
purlwise through the back right stitch. Next, insert the needle purlwise through
the front stitch and slip off the needle, then knitwise through the following front
stitch. Continue with knitwise through the back right stitch and slip off, then
purlwise through the following back stitch. Continue as established.

With the end still threaded on the
tapestry needle, insert the I-cord into one
yarn-over hole in the skirt directly below
one eye, and pull the end out through
another yarn-over hole under the other
eye. (There should be one yarn-over
hole in between.) Pull the I-cord halfway
through, so that an equal amount sticks
out from each side. Weave loose ends
back through the I-cord and the body.

between and just under the eyes.

Without pulling the piece into the face,
secure by weaving the end through the
body a few times. Weave the loose end
from the cast-on through the nose and the
body.

Use the tip of a pair of sharp scissors
to separate the individual strands of hair
for a shaggy look. Trim to desired length.
