Unload/Show Clear Point pistol in safe direction. Place decocking/safety lever in SAFE position. Depress magazine release and remove magazine. Pull slide to rear to remove chambered round. Push slide lock up, lock slide to rear. Inspect chamber to ensure it is safe and empty. Depress slide stop, let slide go forward Weapon is now in condition GREEN.

Disassemble M9 Clear weapon. (Condition GREEN ) With slide forward, depress disassembly lever. Rotate disassembly lever until stops. Pull slide forward, remove from frame. Carefully remove recoil spring and guide from slide assembly. Lift and remove barrel and locking block assembly from slide.

Inspect locking block for cracks.

Function Check 1. Depress slide stop, letting the slide go forward 2. Insert and empty magazine into the pistol 3. Retract the slide, it should lock to the rear 4. Depress the magazine release button and remove the magazine 5. Ensure the decocking/safety lever is in the SAFE (down) position 6. Depress the slide stop. When the slide goes forward, the hammer should fall to the full forward position 7. Squeeze and release the trigger. The firing pin block should move up and down and the hammer should not move 8. Place the decocking/safety lever in the FIRE (up) position 9. Squeeze the trigger to check double action. The hammer should cock and fall 10. Squeeze the trigger again. Hold it to the rear. Manually retract and release the slide. Release the trigger. You should hear a click, and the hammer should not fall 11. Squeeze the trigger to check single action. The hammer should fall

LOADING
With slide locked to the rear Insert a charged magazine (Condition AMBER ). Attempt to pull it out Release slide forward. Weapon still on SAFE (Condition RED ) With slide forward Insert a charged magazine (Condition AMBER ). Attempt to pull it out Retract slide and release it (sling shot). Weapon still on SAFE (Condition RED )

CORRECT MALFUNCTIONS
Immediate Action Ensure weapon is on FIRE. Ensure magazine fully seated. Retract slide and release, observing round eject. Require target and engage. Tap, Rack, Bang - Always pointed in safe direction. Remedial Action Performed if Immediate Action fails. Clear weapon (Make GREEN, seek cover and communicate.) Attempt to identify cause of malfunction. (Magazine change). Get back in battery, or clear, disassemble, clean and inspect. (Transition in combat.)

EYE DOMINANCE TEST

Method #1 With both eyes open, look directly at the red circle. Make a SMALL CIRCLE with both your hands at full arm length in front of you. Concentrate on the circle with both eyes open. Close one eye at a time. Which eye did you see the circle out of? Method #2 Make the same hand arrangement and look at your partners face from more than 10 feet away. Ask your partner which of your eyes THEY see.
