1. What do you understand by green technology?

Green technology is a system that incorporates the new and innovative methods and materials used to create more environmentally friendly cleaning products. The expectation with technology like this is to change the daily habitual habits of society. Green technology focuses on household cleaning products, waste, inventions, clothing, energy sources, etc. Many focus points make technology like this sustainable. Green technology researches new ways to use our natural resources without depleting them, and without making it harder for future generations to survive. Another focus of this technology is ensuring that products produced are re-usable in the future. 2. Benefits from Green technology? Ans: Sustainability - meeting the needs of society in ways that can continue indefinitely into the future without damaging or depleting natural resources. In short, meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. "Cradle to cradle" design - ending the "cradle to grave" cycle of manufactured products, by creating products that can be fully reclaimed or re-used. Source reduction - reducing waste and pollution by changing patterns of production and consumption. Innovation - developing alternatives to technologies - whether fossil fuel or chemical intensive agriculture - that have been demonstrated to damage health and the environment. Viability - creating a center of economic activity around technologies and products that benefit the environment, speeding their implementation and creating new careers that truly protect the planet. Examples of green technology subject areas Energy: Perhaps the most urgent issue for green technology, this includes the development of alternative fuels, new means of generating energy and energy efficiency. Green building: Green building encompasses everything from the choice of building materials to where a building is located. Environmentally preferred purchasing: This government innovation involves the search for products whose contents and methods of production have the smallest possible impact on the environment, and mandates that these be the preferred products for government purchasing. Green chemistry: The invention, design and application of chemical products and processes to reduce or to eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances.

Green nanotechnology: Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of materials at the scale of the nanometer, one billionth of a meter. Some scientists believe that mastery of this subject is forthcoming that will transform the way that everything in the world is manufactured. "Green nanotechnology" is the application of green chemistry and green engineering principles to this field. 3. What are the 16 green technology products for exports? Ans : The 16 products are: Equipment for Solar Energy decentralized and grid connected products, Bio-Mass Gassifier, Bio-Mass / Waste Boiler, Vapour Absorption Chillers, Waste Heat Boiler, Waste Heat Recovery Units, Unfired Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Wind Turbine, Solar Cells, Solar Collector and Parts thereof, Water Treatment Plants, Wind Mill, Wind Turbine/Engine, Other Generating Sets; wind powered, Electrically Operated Vehicles Motor Cars, Electrically Operated Vehicles Lorries and Trucks, Electrically Operated Vehicles Motor Cycles / Mopeds. 4. Indian exports turnover? Ans: India's exports are likely to remain at the last year's level of $168 billion owing to the global slowdown."We will try to achieve last year's export turnover of $168 billion in the current fiscal," Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said. The government had fixed the target for $200 billion of exports for the current fiscal while announcing the interim trade policy in February. Scindia had recently informed the Rajya Sabha that the target was "unlikely to be achieved" due to continuing global financial crisis and economic slowdown. Certain sectors of exports like, gems & jewellery and chemical were showing signs of improvement in the export markets, but overall things we re not bullish. "Our exports fell by 33-34 per cent last fiscal. However, there was some improvement in the last month, where exports were down by 28 per cent over the corresponding month last fiscal," he said.
