Are you living in a parched place? Is the place you live at like a wilderness, or salt land, and do you feel like you are all alone (not inhabited)? Just maybe you are serving man and not God! Oh, but you may say, I believe in God and I go regularly to church to worship Him. Well, whats your condition? If you fit this picture, your worship of the heart may be placed in man and not God. Gloria and I were just your good American couple coming together in marriage, doing all the right things, with a bundle of good intentions and a testimony of being followers of Christ. Why did we land up in a wilderness of parched places about four and a half years later? Outwardly, we did everything right, but we were not being blessed! We thought that marriage would bring life to us. I was thinking Gloria would bring me happiness and she was thinking I would bring her security. Unknowing to us at that time, we were looking to each other to be god of our lives. The end results would have been death (and nearly was), had we not woke up to what we were doing. God reminds us in scripture that idols cannot hear, cannot see, and cannot deliver. As much as we desired to minister to one another, it seemed that God caused the other to be deaf, blind and unable to meet the others needs. Why? Because God did not want us to look to each other for the things only our Creator and Savior could do for us. Have you ever felt like your loved one didnt hear you or didnt understand you, or couldnt feel your need? Maybe you are expecting them to be god. God will make them like a dumb idol to you so He can teach you to look to Him for life and not mankind. Maybe your god is not your marriage partner, but your family, church, job, talent, etc. If your condition is like these verses, then maybe you should check out your life and make sure that your faith and confidence is in the living God and not a man! Man is Gods servant. Dont worship the servant, but look to the Master for your provisions.
July the 29th Galilean Baptist Church celebrated her 80th birthday. Dr. John R. Rice started this church from a revival meeting he had held in a vacant lot. There is a church in Gainsville, TX, Sherman, TX, and Waxahachi, TX, still going today and started by Dr. John R. Rice. We are grateful to be a part of what was started so many years ago and praise the Lord for sustaining His church all these years. Dr. Shelton Smith, from Sword of the Lord (which was started in Galilean) spoke in two services and God blessed greatly.

pulled on our reins, we began to dry up and as we saw the results of our ways, we came to the realization that we were wrong. We then confessed and turned to God for our lives and worshiped Him only. Then we began learning how to enjoy loving one another. There are not enough words to express how God has blessed our marriage since we stopped looking to each other to be our savior. Please, stop a moment and check out your heart. Who is god of your life? Is it the true living God of creation, or is it a man or something else that you look to for life? You havent tasted life until your whole focus is on the God of creation? May you always be called the Blessed man. ----Editor

Now we see the Blessed man. This is the man that has trusted the Lord to hear his cry and to respond to his needs. It puzzles me that when Israel was in trouble they always said that God brought them out of Egypt to kill them. Every time something went wrong, they accused God of wanting to kill them. Trust is only needed when there are circumstances that look like danger. Why didnt Israel think on the things God had promised, instead of the things they were having to go through to get to the promise. The person who can take their eyes off the problem and trust Gods promises, is a blessed man! What we hope for, we wait for! Patience is a sign that you believe the answer is on its way! So many Christians brag about not having patience. It is nothing to brag about, it only shows how little hope you have in God and His promises. Troubles come to all! Troubles reveal where our trust and our hope lies. We have had some very dry days this last year and many trees died. We have horses and they were in a field with no grass for some time. It was dry and dusty, yet, some trees remained green and made it through the dry spell. Now they all went through the same weather, but only a few lived. Those that lived were more closely connected to a water supply. Their roots had found water while the others dried up! They both went through the dry spell, but because of the roots, there was a great difference in the outcome. The blessed man rides the storms, but does not dry up. He still produces fruit! When you see someone like that, you have seen a Blessed man. Where is your trust, your hope and your heart? Is it in man or God?
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Dont be surprised as you look at these verses, if you realize that your trust has been in man and not God. Our hearts are deceitful! They are also desperately wicked. Who can know what is in his heart? Only when God tries the reins of our hearts do we realize what is in our hearts. Gloria and I didnt plan to go against God. We were deceived to believe that life was in marriage. As God

As we were writing the article on the church, the news broke concerning First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. All we know is what we are hearing on the news. We have no inside story at this time and have no desire to speculate, as a news reporter might do. We insert this article to remind the body of Christ that our body is made up of imperfect people and from time to time there are those who bring shame to the name of Christianity. There will be many different reactions to the news, depending upon how it affects that individual, but the bottom line is that Christ has not failed us! Christianity works, if we let it work in our lives. I have lived a long time and have been disappointed in many leaders during this time, but those that stood by the stuff have reminded me that it is Christ that I am following and not man. Mine and Glorias life is a work of restoration and because of that, our first thoughts are for the fallen and the victims. Remember, God HATES sin, but loves the sinner. God requires us to minister to the broken and wounded. Does that mean we just forget what has been done? Not on your life! Those in the authority structure had better purge and hold everyone to a Biblical standard. The sin is against God and if those in authority do not judge according to the Word of God, they will be judged themselves by God. They have a great responsibility to the body of Christ (the church). In II Samuel 12:14 God says to David, who had committed adultery with Bathsheba, Howbeit, because by
this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. When we give

occasion to the enemies to blaspheme the name of the Lord, the Lord has His own judgments and none of us will escape His judgment. David repented and God received him. Pray that those taken in sin will be like David.

We women in American, live in a day and time, when women have great freedoms (even though many still want to fight for rights). We are so free, that we can neglect our God given responsibilities and still be honored by our country. A womans God given responsibility is to build her house.
Prov 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
We do not all work the same way in our homes. Our talents and our specialities are in different things, but our responsibility to build our house is the same. You dont like to cook? Hire a cook, but your responsibility is to see to it that the family is nourished. You dont like to sew? Hire a seamstress, but your responsibility is to see that the family is covered (and may I inject a word here? The word is covered, not exposed, as we see so many today). You dont like to wash clothes or do the dirty work? Hire a maid, but keep things in order to show respect for what God has provided. Yet, the one thing that God has given us to do in building a home, we must not turn over to others. That is the weaning, or the teaching of our children. Do you want your children to grow up to be like you? Then you had better invest yourself in their lives by showing them your heart as you teach them to grow up to be great men and great women. There is another great work given to woman that she had better not neglect or take lightly. A mans home is to be his castle! A man who feels like a king will act like a king! While women have such great freedoms today, the great men of our day are disappearing. Just as virtuous women are hard to find, so great men do not come in large numbers. Today its getting difficult to find ONE great man in a crowd of many. Why? Because the HEART of wives and mothers have left the home. Home today is nothing more than a shelter or a meeting place for the
family. In most households there is not a great work going on IN the home. They dont pray together, they dont eat together and many do not play together (although much playing is going on, it is not with the family). Our lifes thrust, as women, is no longer our home! What does this mean? It means that our most valuable work is not being done and our homes are falling apart. I have taught for years that the husband is the sun of the home, the wife is the moon of the home and the children are the stars of the home, using the illustration of Josephs dream, but I had never seen this verse in Jeremiah until reading through this year. Just as God created the sun to rule the day and the moon to rule the night, He created man and woman to rule their created positions. Earth needs both her sun and her moon. We would not be able to function properly without both and the same is true of mankind. This world would not be complete without the work of both the man and the woman. We need both of them to be blooming in their positions if we are to be balanced and survive. Too often women feel that if the man would just move over and let her do it, everything would be better. Well, they are moving over and things are not getting better. Men and women do not have to prove to one another that they can do the other persons job. The truth is, they can. But when a man has to do a womans job, or a woman has to do a mans job, it only proves that somebody is not doing their job!!!! The answer is not to take over the other persons responsibilities, but to encourage

Heb 10:23-25 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
We, who have been born of the Spirit of God are the Bride of Christ and the Lord Jesus Christ has commanded us to assemble together. The more we see the last days approaching, the more we are to assemble! In America, for years the manner of some was Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening. Everyone knew Christians would be in church at these times. The school would not have thought about scheduling anything during these times. Ball games would never have been planned on Gods day! If you travel today and want to attend church at these times, you will find it very hard to find a church having services on Sunday evening or Wednesday evening. Do we have to have church on these days in order to please God? No! We are not told when to assemble, but you would have to agree that most churches today have less assemble (for worship) than they did some years ago. The Scripture says we should be assembling MORE since it is so obvious that the day is approaching!!! Our churches are weakening, not becoming stronger. Wake up church! There has never been a day when there was a greater need for God fearing churches. Our love for the church has also changed through the years. When we came to Galilean Baptist Church, there were many elderly people who had been part of the beginning of the church. One by one we began to bury our older members. Almost every one of them had included the church in their wills. They loved their church and they had planted their lives in their church and they wanted to bless their church even after their deaths. People coming into the church today are slow at tithing, or slow at regular attendance and the church is not becoming a part of their lives. It is just one of their activities! The early church sold all they had and became one in order to reach the world with the gospel. They had a burden for those who did not know Christ. What about us? We do not have much more time to plead for those to come to Christ for Eternal Life. Do we have loved ones that we are not sure about? Well, we had better get serious about their lives, because we dont have a lot of time left. The church will pray with us for those loved ones if we will just ask them. What if I told you Charles Spurgeon would be speaking at our church next Sunday morning? Or, maybe it would be George Muller, or maybe Bro. Roloff.
Would you put out an effort to be here next Sunday? If so, why? We invited Bro. Shelton Smith to speak at our 80th Anniversary and our crowd was doubled because he has a testimony of being a godly man and everyone wanted to hear him. Why would we extend ourselves to see and hear them, when we will not get up on Sunday morning to worship with our brothers and sisters at our church? It is because we are not living the lives that these men lived and are living. Gods hand was upon these men and we knew it. We are not seeking the Lord in a way that makes those around us know that we are servants of the living God. Our lives are dull and boring because we live our lives the same way the world lives theirs (and we are getting the same results the world is getting)! These men dared to be different and others enjoyed assembling with them! I realize that personalities attract crowds and not all of us have that kind of a personality, but if Christ was more evident in our lives, our personality would be more attractive. Dont you agree? Our God is a God of miracles and yet many of the body of Christ are living in defeat! Our church had a great anniversary service and our people gave testimonies of how God worked in their lives to bring them to Galilean. Each story was so interesting. It started my heart to thinking about what the church means to me. My mother was carrying me in her womb when God called my daddy to preach. His daddy had been preaching for 20 years at that time. My mothers daddy was ordained to preach about the same time my daddy was (Continued on page 7)
profession of love for God was more evident in their doctrines and their principles. Ladies, the Scriptures tell us that the woman is of the man and the man is by the woman (I Cor. 11:8). Mans seed is the tool from which the woman does her work, and the child is the product that the woman produces. She turns his seed into a treasure. Without her, he has no product. Without him, she has no tool. We were created to work as one together and we need to return to living our lives through one another, instead of living separate lives. If America is about to go through Gods judgment, and I believe she is, then we may soon be missing our men. We better love them while we have them and be there to encourage them to turn Gods heart back to America, before Gods judgment falls upon us.

ordained. Everywhere I went, it was the preachers house. My daddy loved people and he loved God with all his heart. Every breath he took was centered around God, His Word and His Church! Did he neglect us to do this? No way! He brought us with him in everything he did. When God called him to a church, we knew God had called all of us. We were a part of our daddys life and his work. I thank God that my parents worked our home as one body. Daddy brought us into his work and we brought our parents into our works. We never thought about doing anything without considering the rest of the family. Today I realize what a treasure I had in my family. From a very young child all I remember is going to church night after night. My daddy held revivals almost every week. Some were in churches and some were in outside tabernacles with saw dust on the ground. I shall never forget the first man I heard shout. It scared me to death! The country churches always feed us like royalty. I can still smell the food on the table! The milk came right from the cows, which sometimes were looking in the windows while we ate. I will not forget daddys first church. I was four years old. Daddy had been teaching Sunday School for Bro. J. Frank Norris and my mother had been one of Bro. Norris secretaries. Bro. Norris had counseled daddy to take this church. It was called the Union Hill Baptist Church, in Sanger, Texas. It was an old school house and the church was on one end and our home was on the other end. I dont remember too many people, because I was so young, but I remember the Ramseys and the Scroggins families. I knew, even as a child, that they loved us and cared about our needs. That meant a lot to me as a child. Little did I know that daddy would pastor ten different churches in my first 16 years of life. From my birth to my marriage, at 16 years of age, my family had moved 26 times! My mother kept a suitcase under the bed, ready to go when daddy said go. I never heard my mother complain about moving. Our motto was, If God calls, we go. If you were looking on from the outside you might think that daddy was unstable, but looking back I can see reasons for every move we made. Yes, my daddy would have had a hard time staying very long at any place, because his heart and calling was restoration, and once people were restored, daddy was looking for the next need. Every church he took was in trouble when we got there. As a child, I just thought all churches were in trouble! I might not have been too far from the truth. Churches are made out of imperfect people and where you have more than one person you will have issues. The problem comes when we fail to solve our problems as Christ would. Too much flesh and not enough Spirit in Gods house sometimes. Daddys second church was in San Antonio, Texas, where the deacons brought baseball bats and hid them in the shrubbery, in case they got in a knock down drag out! They didnt know us when they called daddy and yet some of them were ready to kill us! They had beer ordered and delivered to our front door to make it look like daddy was a drinker. We were sitting at the dinner table the second night when the lights went out. Someone had called and had them turned off. Daddy hadnt even had time to make anyone mad, but they thought he was in their way. I was 5 years old and I remember that as a mean church! Daddys third church was across town and the first church in San Antonio sent a woman over to seduce daddy in order to catch him in immorality. The deacons then sat in the car out front waiting for daddy to come out with her so they could take his picture. The woman came in and sat on the corner of my daddys desk and said, The only thing wrong with you is that you just need a little loving. My daddy said, Is that so. Well, my wife is next door and she does all my loving.
When they saw that would not work they left daddy alone. I dont remember all the troubles daddy was used in to restore lives, but I do remember the members that loved us and watched over our needs. They were like the hands of Jesus to me and I will never forget them. The ugly, the mean, the mad, the evil, I really do not remember. They didnt add anything to my life. They did try to take away from our lives, but God turned it to good!!! When I think back upon the troubles, the first thing I remember is the victories that we saw God perform when we obeyed and allowed Him to lead in our lives. Remember, circumstances do not make or break us, they only reveal us! The church is not perfect, but it is the Bride of Christ and He died for her. He wants His Bride to gather together on regular times to worship and get to know Him, because we are going to live with Him forever. This is one marriage where there will be no divorce! I had a member to tell me that she loved me, but she didnt like my daddy. I said to her, But I am my daddy and if you dont like him, you dont like me. How can we say we love Christ and not love His Bride, the church? He gave His life for her, cant we learn to love and serve her as Unto Him? Cant we learn to get along as brothers and sisters? What does your life do for Christs church? Are you a blessing or a problem. Do you restore or destroy? Do you add to or feed off of the church? Christs church is His Bride and He loves her. What about you? Do you love her? Where will you be the next time the doors open at your church? We the willing Led by the unknowing Are doing the impossible For the ungrateful. We have done so much For so long with so little We are now qualified To do anything with nothing!

THE CHURCHS ONE FOUNDATION The Churchs one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord, She is His new creation By water and the Word. From heaven He came and sought her To be His holy bride; With His own blood He bought her And for her life He died. The Church shall never perish! Her dear Lord to defend, To guide, sustain, and cherish, Is with her to the end: Though there be those who hate her, And false sons in her pale, Against or foe or traitor She ever shall prevail. Though with a scornful wonder Men see her sore oppressed, By schisms rent asunder, By heresies distressed: Yet saints their watch are keeping, Their cry goes up, How long? And soon the night of weeping Shall be the morn of song!
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. KJV
