PRICES AND EXPORTS

DURANTE el 2010 las exportaciones mineras metlicas y no metlicas alcanzaron la cifra de US$21 mil 974 millones, siendo la ms alta de su historia, siendo el cobre y el oro los dos productos mineros que registraron los ms altos montos en el conjunto de las ventas peruanas que se realizaron al exterior, inform el Ministerio de Energa y Minas (MEM) con datos del Banco Central de Reserva (BCR). Segn indic el BCR, adicionalmente, las ventas de los minerales no metlicos ascendieron a US$251 millones, lo que significa un crecimiento en 69.7% respecto del monto del 2009 que fue de US$148 millones. La variacin de flujo entre el 2009 y el 2010 ha sido de US$5,464 millones. Otro dato a resaltar es que las exportaciones de los metales sumaron US$21 mil 723 millones, lo que representa un incremento de 32.8% con relacin al monto que se obtuvo en 2009, el cual fue de US$16,361 millones. El ente emisor precis que durante el ao pasado se export un milln 253,500 toneladas mtricas (0.6% ms que en 2009) de cobre por un valor de US$8 870 millones, que es superior en 49.5% al del ao anterior. El precio promedio que se pag por el metal rojo fue de 321 centavos de dlar la libra, es decir, que hubo un incremento de 48.6% con relacin al del ao anterior. Respecto del oro, conocido como metal refugio en las pocas de crisis financiera o econmica, durante el 2010 las empresas que trabajan en este rubro comercializaron seis millones 345,800 onzas, 9.5% menos en comparacin a lo reportado en el ao 2009. No obstante, el valor de estas ventas, que fue de US$7 756 millones, super en 14% al monto logrado en 2009 (US$6 802 millones). El precio promedio del oro fue de US$1,222.3 la onza troy, 26% ms que el ao anterior. Un incremento de 38% se observ, asimismo, en el monto correspondiente a las ventas de zinc, el cual fue de US$1,691 millones. Las empresas dedicadas a la produccin de este metal embarcaron un milln 310,400 toneladas mtricas (TM), 4.2% menos que el ao anterior. El precio promedio de este mineral fue de 58.5 centavos de dlar la libra, 44.1% ms que el ao anterior. Las expor taciones de plomo ascendieron a US$1,579 millones, cifra que es superior en 41.9% a la del ao anterior. Se embarcaron a diferentes destinos 770 mil TM, 13.3% ms que en el 2010, con un precio promedio de 93 centavos de dlar la libra, superior en 25.3% al que se pag el 2009. En la venta de plata refinada, metal en el cual el Per es el primer productor en el mundo, el monto que se logr de las ventas efectuadas en el exterior fue de 118 millones de dlares, menor en 44.8% al del 2009. El volumen comercializado ha sido de 6.2 millones de onzas troy, 62.1% por debajo del que se vendi el ao anterior.
DURING 2010, metal and non-metallic mining exports reached US$21 thousand 974 millions, the highest in their history; being copper and gold the two mining products that recorded the highest amounts of the total Peruvian sales made abroad, reported the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) based on the data from the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR). According to BCR, additionally, the sales of nonmetallic minerals increased by US$251 million, which means an increase of 69, 7% in comparison to the amount of US$148 million in 2009. The flow variation between 2009 and 2010 was US$5,464 million. Another piece of information to be highlighted is that metal exports amounted to US$21 thousand 723 million, which represents an increase of 32.8% compared to the amount of US$16,361 million obtained in 2009. The issuing agency specified that over the last year, one million 253,500 metric tons (0, 6% more than in 2009) of copper were exported for an amount of US$8 870 million, 49, 5% higher than the prior year. The average price paid for the red metal was 321 cents of dollar per pound, it means, there was an increase of 48,6% in comparison to the amount of the previous year. With regard to gold known as metal refuge in times of financial or economic crisis, during 2010 companies working in this sector commercialized six millions 345,800 ounces, 9, 5% less than that reported in 2009. However, the value of this sales, US$7 756 millions, exceeded in 14% the amount achieved in 2009 (US$6 802 millions). The average price of gold was US$1,222.3 per troy ounce, 26% more than the previous year.

El hierro fue otro mineral cuya exportacin se realiz por un monto de US$523 millones, superior en 75.3% al del ao anterior. Fueron embarcadas 7.7 millones de toneladas mtricas, 10.9% ms que en 2009. El precio que se pag fue de 67.6 dlares la tonelada mtrica, 58.1% ms que el ao anterior. El molibdeno fue otro de los minerales que comercializ nuestro pas por valor de US$492 millones, 80.8% ms que el ao anterior. Se despacharon 16,700 toneladas mtricas, 36.5% ms que el ao 2009. Fue vendido a 1,338 centavos de dlar la libra, 32.4% ms que el ao anterior. Como pas polimetlico el Per produce y exporta varios metales, uno de los cuales es el estao. El valor que se obtuvo en este caso fue de US$663 millones, 39.5% ms que el ao anterior. Se embarc 33,500 toneladas mtricas, 11.1% menos que el ao pasado. El estao se cotiz a 897.7 centavos de dlar la libra, mayor en 56.9% a la del ao anterior. En la minera no metlica destacaron las exportaciones de fosfatos que alcanzaron los US$ 53 millones (613 mil toneladas). Como ya se indicado, el impacto de la minera en la economa nacional es muy amplio. En el Per, el nmero de personas cuyo sustento se basa en esta actividad es de 2519,520, de las cuales 125,976 obtienen empleo directo, 503,904 empleo indirecto y 1889,640 personas dependen de los trabajadores

An increase of 38% was observed as well as in the amount corresponding to the sales of zinc, which were US$1,691 millions. The companies involved in the production of this metal exported one million 310, 400 metric tons (TM), 4, 2% less than the previous year. The average price of this mineral was 58, 5 cents of dollar per pound, 44,1% more than the previous year. The exports of lead increased US$1,579 million, which is 41, 9% higher than the previous year. 770 thousand metric tons, 13, 3% more than in 2010, were shipped to different destinations, with an average price of 93 cents of dollar per pound, 25% higher than the amount paid in 2009. The value of refined silver exports was 118 million of dollars, 44,8% lower than in 2009. It is worth mentioning that Peru is the top silver producer in the world. 75, and 3% higher than the previous year. 7, 7 millions of metric tons, 10, 9% higher than in 2009, were shipped. The price paid was 67,6 dollars per metric ton, 58,1% higher than the previous year. Molybdenum was another mineral commercialized by our country at a price of US$492 millions, 80, and 8% higher than the previous year. 16,700 metric tons were exported, 36,5% higher than in 2009. It was sold at a price of 1,338 cents of dollar per pound, 32,4% higher than the previous year. As a polymetallic country, Peru produces and exports several metals, one of them is tin. The value obtained in this case was US$663 millions, 39,5% higher than the previous year. 33,500 metric tons were shipped, 11,1% less than the previous year. Tin was quoted at 897, 7 cents of dollar per pound, 56,5% higher than the previous year. In non-metallic mining, the exports of phosphates that reached US$ 53 million (613 mil tons) stood out. As indicated before, the impact of mining on the national economy is considerable. In Peru, the number of people which means of support are based on this activity are 2'519,520 from which 125,976 obtained a direct job, 503,904 obtained an indirect job and 1'889,640 of people depend on workers.
