Cell Parts and Its Functions

Part

Function
The Golgi apparatus of the animal cell consists of flat vesicular structures placed one on top of the other. It synthesizes and secretes certain substances, namely hormones and enzymes Processes, packages and secretes proteins. Like a factory. The endoplasmic reticulum transports chemicals around the cell and between other cells. It provides a large area for chemical reactions ad forms a tubular passage through the cell. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is covered in Ribosome's on the outside. Transport, "intracellular highway". Surface for chemical activity The endoplasmic reticulum consists of tubular structures (convoluted tubules) lying near the nucleus. It provides support to the plant cell and the animal cell. It is known as the 'site of protein synthesis in the cell', and synthesizes proteins. It is chiefly composed of RNA (Ribonucleic acid). tiny spherical bodies that help make proteins Found in the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. Lysosomes are the garbage collectors of the cell. They break large molecules into smaller molecules by adding water into the chemical bond. Controls the cell death. Contains digestive enzymes, breaks things down, "suicide sac". Digestion center It performs intracellular digestion. It also helps in destroying foreign substances. Membrane bound vesicle that contains enzymes. Power house of the cell. It is the site for cell respiration It is the site of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) synthesis. It also synthesizes respiratory enzymes. Cellular trucks for the transport of mRNA. It initiates and regulates cell division. It also helps in forming spindle fibres, with the help of asters Made up of filaments and tubules, it helps shape and support the cell. It also helps move things move around in the cell. It controls and coordinates all the activities and functions of the cell. It plays a vital role in cell division. The nucleus is the most important part of the cell, and contains large amounts of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) chromosomes are found here This organelle helps store and transport products produced by the cell. Some vesicles deliver materials to parts of the cell and others transport materials outside the cell in a process called exocytosis. Serves as a limiting membrane that regulates the entrance and exit of substances from cell and iys environment.
