Reflections on Nirmaan Organizations All Chapter Meet - 2012 @ BITS Hyd.

Nirmaan Organisations sixth All Chapter Meet [ ACM ] is where volunteers from the chapters all over India come down to participate in intensive lectures, discussions, interactions and what not. The two day event started off with each of the chapter presenting its activities and the impact created. I then understood how much of information I miss though I regularly follow the mails and posts of other chapters! The activities of the sister chapters only inspire you to get better and better. The external speaker, Mrs Aruna from Bamboo House India told us the story of how they overcame so many hardships and climbed the ladder of bamboo over the time. She once again reinforced the statement that Social entrepreneurship is an accident. In my personal opinion, every entrepreneurial venture is social unless you are corrupt. The evening was well spent at Orange bowl, a resort close by with sumptuous dinner! :D. The evening also saw a new culture of giving out awards to volunteers. The best thing about these meets is listening to the founding members and the other stalwarts speak. There is just un-measurable amount of positive energy that flows out when these people speak. The dinner time helped in interaction between volunteers from different chapters. Ideas flowed all over! The next day saw various workshops related to Education, Livelihood and Community development. I attended the workshop by Ms.Madhulika from Adhya Educational Society. Adhya and Nirmaan have developed a curriculum that can be adapted to various educational projects across the chapters. The workshop gave an in depth idea on the philosophy behind the curriculum. Adhyas teaching model is based on teaching through local language and culture! Presently, the society teaches Maths using Tabla at Govt. school in Kothaguda, Hyd. How cool? I so liked the model framework that I wish I was taught using it in my school. The full version of the curriculum developed is yet to be released though. The day 2 afternoon had a finance workshop. Importance of management of finance is strongly stressed. No matter what kind of organization you run Profit, Non profit ; Govt, Non Govt Money matters! Later, the general body gave out more suggestions and ideas to the central committee which were greatly received! Group snaps and warm hugs people departed. What I missed out? BITS Pilani - Hyderabad Campus was where all this took place! :D The ACM in 2011 gave me an opportunity to see ISB, Hyderabad now I get to visit the sister campus. This campus is very spaciously built by the Birlas. The hostel bhavans are just huge. Few aspects made me envy the campus also! :D All in all, this is another beautiful campus!
