Mary Anne McCaffree, M.D., Re-Elected to AMA Board of Trustees


CHICAGO - The American Medical Association (AMA), the nations largest physician organization, announced today the re-election of Mary Anne McCaffree, M.D., a neonatalperinatal medicine specialist in Oklahoma City, to the Board of Trustees. Dr. McCaffree was first elected to the AMA Board of Trustees in 2008. Im very honored to continue serving on the AMAs Board of Trustees, said Dr. McCaffree. Im committed to ensuring that all patients and physicians have access to quality health care, and I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues from across the nation on this and other health care issues. Dr. McCaffree has served the AMA in a variety of roles, including chairing the Board of Trustees Committee on Organization and Operation and the Membership Committee. She currently serves as the chair of the AMAs finance committee. Dr. McCaffree was the first female president of the Oklahoma State Medical Society in 1998. In this role she led the fight to improve Medicaid reimbursement rates, working with AMAs Litigation Center, state medical societies and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her work led to a landmark court case in Oklahoma that increased Medicaid reimbursement in the state. Dr. McCaffree graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and was later honored by the school as Physician of the Year in 1996 and Alumnus of the Year in 2006. She is now a professor of pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. She is recognized as a proven leader in expanding and improving care for newborns, infants, children and their families.
