A Christmas Poem

Long ago,
In Land afar,
I came to glimpse,
A Christmas Star.

Star of Beauty,
Star of Might,
Star of Guidance,
Christmas Night

Isaiah’s Promise
Messiah True
God our Saviour,
Christmas dew.

The God of Justice,

Christ Child too,
Anger and Mercy,
Druid’s Brew.

Eternal Child
Pagan too,
God of Being,
Justice true.

No corruption,
Honest Court,
Real Compassion,
Last resort.

Wise though small,

Knowing All,
Greater Wisdom,
Solomon’s fall.
Pagan Mother,
Virgin true,
Innocent birth,
Forest Dew.

Child with eyes,

Infinite true,
Ages Past
Saviour’s Due

Santa’s helper,
Christ Child more,
Ever giving,
Open Door.

Judge’s bane,
Wisdom sure,
No bribery,
Judgment secure.

Snow on ground,
Angels dance,
Happy children,
Christmas trance.

Christmas Spirit,
Parent gifts,
Happy children,
Shorter lists.

The Padman came,

Took Jesus in hand,
Arms of blessing,
Christmas band.
