Information Technology (IT) is just one of the tools that can be used to help the individuals that worked in the Human Services field to address a seemingly overwhelming problem. which will soon be the Baby Boomers (U. . Some of the most essential aspects within the Human Services field include the gathering of data. The unwillingness of the elderly people to learn and to have modern technology and electronics is another issue that should not be understated. Computers would enable Human Services professionals to create better evaluation and plans in a timely manner. With the use of IT computer systems and programs. planning and development and funding. The tools that are provided through IT can become even more significant with a single hindrance to Human Services professionals that would be going any time soon. Typically. these areas can all be improved. IT can be utilized to manage the massive amounts of data to assist various clients. Another emerging issues and obstacles that arose from providing services to the elderly are the declining physical and mental abilities of the population due to aging. obstacles and issues are always existing that could affect the productivity and service. Human Services are addressing these issues with the utilization of recent technological advances to enhance the quality of life of an aging population.Technology Solutions In working with their clients.S. in any field that involves dealing with people. Searching for possible ways to overcome these hindrances has become the usual part of their job. Census Bureau. there is also an increasing amount of resources created that will be allocated to services for the elderly. human services professionals know that trials are inevitable. With the increasing number of Baby Boomers reaching retirement age. Hindrances are existent throughout the Human Services field.

Databases are very flexible and would be a great help for a Human Services worker. Detailed reports can easily be acquired from the database in order to monitor the client’s important information such as who needs home assistance or who needs a doctor’s visit. Also. Other technologies that can be used by the Human Services professionals are software applications such as word processors and database programs (AAHSA.

Also. The numbers of ways wherein the word processors and databases can be used are limitless. However. For instance. The existence of cell phones and the internet has greatly helped the Human Services worker and the emergency worker. the information can be easily retrieved from the database. Moreover. the use of computers seems to be very complicated to learn for most elderly people. if a Human Service worker wants to know the number of elderly clients living in a certain location or even in a certain building. Just the idea of using the latest technology can be a burden for most elderly Americans. they would not need to memorize the phone number they wanted to call and they could contact their family members easily. Some of these ways are now being embraced. The elderly people may not be able to utilize the other features that a cell phone can do but at least with the speed dial feature. Also. This feature would be helpful someone of an appointment. there are some aspects that the elderly person cannot avoid. One example would be the use of cell phones. Most of the cell phone units that are in the market today have an alarm feature. database can accumulate valuable information that would be needed in preparation of financial reports which is important for funding and budget allocation. it could also be used as reminder for an individual to take his medicine.A Human Services worker would then have the ability to access the information anywhere else provided that there is a computer. this attitude amongst the elderly is gradually changing since the recent technologies are becoming more user-friendly. Catering to the needs of the elderly. . more cell phones are now equipped with the GIS technology. As technology still continues to get better.

The utilization of technology has been a great impact and provided a lot of ways to go through the obstacles to enhance the service and ease the burden of the Human Services worker.
