First divided into 2 groups these interfaces between Analog and Digital, Analog lose quality in the greater or lesser extent from the beginning of the video signal (eg video card) to the monitor or TV, the leading Digital source signal to destination without loss of quality

Analog

RCA RCA jack is the oldest to be found in a video card is the lowest quality, having a single connector usually yellow

S Video or SVHS

S Video or SVHS: it is also a single 4-pin connector but (there are more versions of pins) is notoriously better quality than RCA

Component

Component: These are 3 x RCA format of red, green and blue, unlike RCA or Svideo can really show the quality of a dvd or higher and even can be used in HDTV 1080p

VGA

Vga: similar quality to the interface component, typically associated with computer science, is a single 15-pin connector usually found in blue and can display Full HD resolutions and above

Digital

DVI

DVI: is the oldest of the 3 digital connector is only up to 29 pins usually white or blue, which can carry only digital picture or digital image + analog (thanks to the latest is that in most of the cards video can be used with dvi to vga adapter), is usually associated with computer science more than anything

HDMI

HDMI is a single connector similar in size to a USB to 19 Pin, usually black in color and can carry both picture and audio (multiple channels) Digital, is associated mostly with the home theater but also being much lately in computer science in both video cards and monitors

Display Port

Display port: HDMI direct competition is not yet widespread in the market but the latest ATI / AMD and bring it, a single connector is also similar in size to a USB and also usually black, also carries both picture and audio (multiple channels) digital, now is being used by more than anything in computer
