On 2 April 1836, he married Catherine Thomson Hogarth. Dickens became very attached to Mary. After her death she became a character in many of his 4/16/12 books.

His writing style is florid and poetic, with a strong comic touch. His satires of British aristocratic are very popular. Many of his characters' names show us which roles they play. His literary style is also a mixture of fantasy and realism.
