Be sure to teach the patient the following about this
medication
Take as directed at the same time each day. Take in
morning before breakfast to prevent insomnia. Take missed
doses as soon as remembered unless almost time for next
dose. Teach pt and family correct technique for checking
pulse. Do not give dose if pulse is >100bpm. Have thyroid
function tests done at least yearly.
Talk to your health care provider if… more than 2-3 doses
are missed, you decide to discontinue therapy, you
experience headache, nervousness, diarrhea, excessive
sweating, heat intolerance, chest pain, ↑ pulse, palpitations,
wt. loss >2 lb/wk, you are taking other medications.
